I think this :
- The game needs time to be fixed, a break from broken packs is required.
- If Project X is very popular, Maxis will abandon TS4. If Project X is failure, Maxis will be forced to keep TS4 alive.
- Maxis doesn't know what Saudi Arabia has planned yet so the game could be in Standby mode until further notice.
It could also be a scenario like in 2019 with The Sims 4 (32-bit) aka Legacy Edition and EP07 Island Living as the last pack.

Last I heard, they're keeping Sims 4 and not making anymore sequels.
But they're working on another spin-off, Project Rene - The Sims multiplayer. I don't know, I don't work for EA. lol

A "reliable insider" that is anonymous, is not reliable at all.

Again that's your opinion I however don't think it's not unnecessary and would most likely add more fun like I and many others asked to bring back water slides, blenders and add a summer camp of some sort and that turned out to be a big hit.

Well considering Simmattically has been more correct about everything then wrong I'm going to trust them for now especially since Project X is on the horizon

A lot of us play on long life, or with aging off so the much needed preteen stage would be wonderful. I'd also hope to see a true middle aged life state, but that's not as crucial as preteen.
