Linked households for aging

When I have families that split into different households but are still family, I wish there was a way to link them so that families age together even if you aren’t active in each household regularly.

I know that you can have the whole world actively aging, but if I have different family lines, I don’t want other story lines aging when I’m not playing them.  But I also don’t want kids to become elders before their parents if I spend too long in one household.  I hope I’m making sense!
