Museums & Archeology Update, Burglars & Security Systems

Here is how I would update and enhance one of our more useless lots.

Museums as a place to Improve skills

  • A place to take classes for or learn about various art forms

Sculpture Making - Materials

  • Alabaster
  • Aluminum
  • Bronze
  • Copper
  • Gold
  • Granite
  • Ice - for display, Ice bars and parties
  • Jade
  • Marble
  • Reclaimed Metal
  • Sand - Only at the beach, huge and for judging
  • Soapstone
  • Terracotta
  • Topiary - Gardens and available for judging
  • Wood

Museums as a Multi-function lot

  • Could be a way to introduce the Gift Shop and Café (I presume we can do that now as 2025 with the Hobby EP)

Burglars (Partially handled but could be improved)

When I think of Museums I think of all the movies I have seen with people planning an art or artifact heist. There is really a lot of potential with reintroducing Burglars back into the Sims.

As a reminder it doesn't have to be either or with burglars it can be both.

  • Burglar as a random lot occurrence. Residential or Commercial
  • Burglar as a standard or active career

Burglar as random lot occurrence - Can happen at retail ons too

  • Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, breaks in, no alarm, steals some things and gets away
  • Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, attempts to break in but the locks foil them, they leave
  • Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, breaks in but the security system goes off, cops show up and they attempt to apprehend - outcome dependent upon relative fitness
  • Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, breaks in, homeowner confronts and fights them - outcome dependent upon the relative fitness
  • Burglar gets arrested and a household member frees them from the police car.
  • Police show up in a squad car
  • Burglars get the Lock Picking Skill
  • Burglars can get the Pickpocket Skill

Those that can Fight or Foil Burglars

  • Bonehilda scares the Burglar
  • Butler fights the Burglar
  • Detectives can catch crooks
  • Dog scare off the Burglar. Can have them guard the house
  • Ghosts can scare off the Burglar
  • Servos chase the Burglar
  • In Fairy Homes they Prank the Burglar out of the House
  • Vampires will always attack a Burglar - They always win and when they do, Yum. Like staying in and ordering Take Out. Chance to make the burglar their minion.
  • Werewolves fight the Burglar - They always win. Personally I think a fight should break out between the two and all you see is the fight dust cloud and when its over the Werewolf is left standing picking his teeth and there is no burglar to be found.

Burglar as a career or active career (We have the Burglars 2025)
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/crLKXitBbQg/maxresdefault.jpg

  • Casino Heists
  • Corporate Espionage
  • Burglary of Mansion Lots
  • Museum break in and theft (Art, Artifact, Famous Jewel)

Security Systems

  • Simple Panel for Residential or Retail Lots.
  • Panel Colors, Fire Alarms should match
    • Black
    • Ivory
    • Red
    • White
  • Grander security for higher stakes heists. Some of this would be cool for espionage
    • Lasers
    • Motion Sensors
    • Security Desks with Monitors
    • Cameras

New Lot/Area Traits

  • No Crime - No Chance of a Burglar
  • Low Crime - Potential Chance of a Burglar, Best to take Precautions
  • High Crime - High Potential of a Burglar

New Lots that Pertain to Crime

  • Criminal Hideout
  • Police Station
  • Private Detective Office

  • I'd like to see an update to the base game to add a semi - active museum curator career. The sim could complete tasks from home or travel to any museum lot and give tours and arrange exhibits by placing collectibles on display. Then it would be compatible with packs that offer unique collectibles and relics such as jungle adventure and werewolves.

I'd also like to see an actual archaeologist career that allows the sim to take on freelance gigs from museums or private collectors and submit collectibles and relics they find.

I've been wanting EA to do something about the terrible criminal career. NPC criminals should break into households (including active households) and steal items. Sims could install burglar systems, try to apprehend the criminal themselves, or direct their pets or occult sims (like suggested) to attack. NPC police would show up and arrest the criminal (just like how NPC fire fighters show up to put out fires). If a sim is working at a museum or ownable business, there should be situation events during which burglars will show up to rob them, disrupt or vandalize the business, or try to extort the owner for "protection money."

The criminal career also needs an overhaul. I mean, the work tasks revolve around performing a bunch of mischief interactions. The player should have the opportunity to pickpocket sims, lockpick residential and community lots, plan a heist with their co - workers, and run scams on NPCs. They should be able to steal anything within reason (items that would normally fit in the sim inventory, but not the household inventory) including livestock animals.

The GTW detective career should also be updated to reflect these improvements. There should be career events for the detective to get called out to active burglaries, getting tips from "informants" to stop crimes before they happen, do stake outs at community lots to thwart a heist, or go "undercover" to catch criminals running scams.

  • we have burglars in the basegame since february and luckily for you, we have a option to toggle it off if you don't want burglars in the game but we definitely need some kind of museums, NOT just the art museum we know in The Sims 4
