New Clothing Category: Rainy Weather

Anyone who comes from a place where it can get both very wet and very cold (obviously not at the same time), knows that rain coats and rubber boots are the wrong type of clothing and shoewear for degrees below 0°C/32°F. I therefore refuse to dress my Sims in the rain coats we got in Seasons in the Cold Weather category. However, I don't use any of the other clothing categories for the rain coats and rubber boots either, because the one time I did, they did little to actually protect my Sim from the rain; she was as drenched as ever. (Please correct me here if I've just been unlucky and the coats do in fact keep sims dry.)

Regardless, an update to Seasons with a separate Clothing Category for rainy weather, and an update to all the suitable clothes so that they would actually keep Sims dry, would be lovely! Sims would automatically change into something appropriate, and we would get to use a whole category of clothing for its actual purpose. In addition, Sims wouldn't bring out the umbrella unnecessarily either, like when gardening or during a full storm.

I agree with you, however I'm wondering if it would get backlash like the My First Pet Stuff did. A DLC for a DLC.

If you don't have seasons, a raincoat kit is not use to you. And I doubt they could add rain showers specifically as a small gameplay feature in a kit, cause I expect Seasons owners would be mad.

Oh, I thought it came with Seasons. I don't remember rain when I played the base game when it released. But it has been such a long time.

As a Seasons owner I most especially would not get mad. It's been far too long to even get mildly upset. In fact I have been complaining of this since Seasons came out. The reason people got peeved about My first Pet was that stuff came out almost directly after Cats & Dogs and it was indeed bs.  Any one who whined after this long obviously isn't thinking clearly. EA isn't going to update Seasons and neither would they go to all of this trouble with no charge. Would I like for them to refresh Seasons for free and give us what we are requesting here, absolutely. Do I think they would without charging, absolutely not. Do I care about spending what amounts to a trenta at Starbucks for something that will likely get used a bunch of times in my games, nope.

Makes sense, I just just assume to expect pushback on principle.

We've seen it happen in the industry where something is pushed out that gets players angry on principle, then it becomes the norm (take the Horse Armour infamy for example). It's the worry that if we let bs practices continue and we see the same crap more and more, eventually people care less and less about it, the greedy companies just get away with it then.

One such occurence more recently was adverts in COD. People pushed back on that. There was also full page adverts added into another game I don't care about. After the outrage, the company said "oops, that was a bug" and removed them... Yh... Of course it was a "bug". They're obviously just testing what they can get away with.
