Next gen update

Does anyone think EA will update the Sims 4 to next gen console capabilities, I'm sure we'd all love faster load times, slightly better graphics etc.

If theres no Sims 5 they may as well bring the Sims 4 properly up to date 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@cbarber89 I have absolutely no insider knowledge, but I would bet some § that there’s a “Ship of Theseus” roadmap in place — replace a bit of code here, a bit of code there, a few years go by… there you have it! A native The Sims 4 running on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.

Maybe that’s clairvoyance, maybe that’s wishful thinking, but I sure would love if The Sims 4 took full advantage of the NVMe on a PlayStation 5.

@HALirious9k Yeah there's not been a single whisper or mention of it happening but I really hope they do, I posted on EA forum too, and said imagine a Sims 4 with no more T poses or slow loading times 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
We can but hope and as always

I'd like the game to catch up with next gen. Xbox Series X runs on DX12 Ultimate. But the Sims 4 isn't Xbox Series X optimised yet.

When I play another game I notice the difference more in the graphics quality. I think it's getting better but it could still be a lot better. Maybe it will improve as Sims 4 is continuing.

I definitely find the game runs better on Xbox Series X though. But I put a lot of work in to make it run more smoothly by constantly checking my in game storage, inventories, townies, etc. I hoped I wouldn't need to do that on such a powerful console but it turns out I do.

@cbarber89 Moving the game to my PlayStation 5’s NVMe did wonders with the load time and simulation lag — since it’s running in back-compat mode, it still hits a CPU bottleneck when decompressing assets, but it’s been a literal game changer.
I can only imagine what would be possible if The Sims 4 were optimized for SSDs and could make full use of the extra GPU power.

@HALirious9k Yeah I play on PS5 also, so I know exactly what you mean, funny story. My PS5 was bought at Christmas so I can play fallout 4/76 on it with all the free upgrades to next gen, and I actually got addicted to Sims 4 that I had in my library from when it must of been on psplus at some point years ago, now I mostly just play Sims on it 🤣🤣
But doing that I was also getting the infamous lag from swapping between build/love mode. And being a builder, there was lots of swapping. So I knew it wasn't the age of console or bogged down save that some were suggesting on other posts.
Since the "reduced memory" update that lag has completely gone for me and I couldn't imagine still playing with that going on. So they've done some improvements, they just need to go the next level 😍
