I, someone who had obediently bought EVERY pack since launch and been a good little cash cow, completely uninstalled Sims 4 over a year ago when this started, and I keep checking back to see if they've made this optional. Only then will I even consider coming back - though the longer this goes on, the less faith I have that EA has pleasing their players in mind at all anymore.
And no, it isn't just me.
The vast majority of those have not even bothered to post on the forums, but have just quietly stopped playing Sims 4 since those unavoidable annoying popups have started trying to control the story we're telling with our game. I'm just the one who keeps checking back to see if EA has come to their senses.
The only argument people have is "I like the live events!" I for one am not trying to take them away from people who like them. But MANY found it broke the game for them.
There is absolutely no reason these events should not be able to be disabled. There is absolutely no reason why the devs will not explain to us why the cannot be optional. It's shady and gross. A year I've been waiting, just to get back the Sims as a life sim game and not as some weird FOMO loot-grubbing nonsense. I miss my sims and the stories I used to tell with them, but not enough to endure that tacky, flashy, mobile-game style GET THIS NOW!!! nonsense every few weeks. I am an adult and don't need to be constantly prodded and "yelled" at to GET MORE STUFF!!!
Let the people who WANT it do it. Let those who don't, NOT do it. CHOICE is all we're asking for. And have been for a year. And no, disabling the gallery along with it is not a "solution." That's like saying you can put out the fire in your kitchen by flooding your house.
