Not in my house ... Just a suggestion for the future

Hello Everyone!

Now I know that this is very nuanced, so I am not sure how this could be reflected in sims interactions but, my sim just got back home from looking out for tarot cards. Hired a babysitter and off I went (husband is a top level spy so he would have been back at midnight).

I finally get home and a vampire is in my house. Nobody invited him, so why the hell are you there. In my mind he is an intruder. Right? So I morphed (my sim is a witch). And if course I got mischief and bad behavior point, because I morphed a sim into an object: BUT WHY WAS HE IN MY HOUSE TO BEGIN WITH?

It would be nice if in the future, the algorithm could recognise self-defense from mischief ... YEAH THAT IS A LOT OT ASK I KNOW .... but my 2002 little self never could have imagined we would have sims dealing with emotions *flabbergasted8 so maybe who knows, right? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

  • @ToKiHyou I think we can safely say none of us want that in our house! Can I ask have you set your front door trespassing settings to Disallow Vampires? That's supposed to keep them away. I had one in my Sims home before I realised there was a specific door setting for them and the door was unlocked at the time and they walked in uninvited and started hissing. Scared the very bejeebers out of my Sim ...and me if I'm honest.

Have you had other instances of Sims walking in? I know Vampires are different, but I wonder if it's part of one of the Sims invading homes bugs. There's a link here to the open bug reports:

  • @ToKiHyou , I wouldn't want any Sim to come into my house uninvited!  I do think you have a point in that you weren't just randomly messing with another Sim, but instead you were using their powers as a form of self-defense. Self-defense isn't mischief!  Also, @simsplayer818 brings up some very good points!  I almost always don't allow vampires on my lot, unless I think the Sims in the house I'm playing might want them.  And if you set the house to not allow Vampires, and you aren't using a Mod/CC, then this could be a bug that needs to be reported with the link @simsplayer818 provided!

I agree with you all. I have thrown up my hands in defeat on teh mischief thing, though. I don't play mischievous sims, they are quite nice sims and not causing issues with others, don't have personality traits that should lead themselves toward mischief or negative interactions with others, but I have found that if I have them autonomously or due to career or gaining time on the computers, I keep getting mischief raising over time. My 'sim-self' (who I play a lot), her hubby, some of their children and grandchildren have autonomously been racking up the mischief in this way, and there is no good reason for it. Even when I play a sim who is a gamer, streamer, computer 'whiz', computer programmer, technician, etc., I never have them doing mischievous computer stuff. However, I do play with full autonomy, and this is apparently the price I pay at the mercy of the algorithm. Hey, I could cheat their mischief back down if the skill cheats were working, but it creeps back up, so I finally cried uncle.

And as both @PugLove888 and @simsplayer818 well know, don't get me started on vampires!! I'm just eternally grateful that they added the no trespassing block option for them on the front door. Thank you, EA!!! Oh, goodness, I had to move my lot and household to a new save to do a workaround for the HS graduation bug and I forgot to check my front door lock settings and hired a butler and ranch hand (and maybe a gardener) and started playing and noticed a few odd behaviors. I think maybe it was Vlad that came to the lot and got my attention, but I also went in and checked the traits for the 'help', and sure enough the butler was a vampire, as was either the gardener or ranch hand. Ugg! Idid a  fulleditmode on the vamp help, got my trespassing settings fixed on the front door, and my problem was solved. Man do I love those front door settings!!

@SheriGR ,  I think of you every time I set my door to not allow vampires on my lot, which is most of the houses that I play unless I'm purposely playing with vampires!😂

Before that setting on the front door, I would often just look each individual bedroom door to only allow household members.

Unfortunately that was not guarantied to work so I used garlic which was 100% effective.

@jpkarlsen , Oh, I always have garlic in my inventory as well, and usually some by the front door as well.  I still do it even though we now have the option to block vampires, because A) it can't hurt and can only help, and B) old habits die hard! 😅

  • oh my but reading this just made me laugh out loud and my dog jumped and is looking at me like I lost my mind.

My current household I am playing has a spellcaster and my current situation is I just moved her and her parents into a new house and my fence is broken. So I've been wondering how I am going to handle the paparazzi and random people who come into the yard. Probably just use a cheat to kill them. But you cracked me up with your response to trespassers and I might just have to go for it with my first bad as she wants to be sim.  Would be nice if the word got out into the sim world that a nasty spellcaster lived in the house and maybe dissuade more from coming. I do not think that is too much to ask though because I detest uninvited guests. Anyhow, thank you for the laugh. I can always use one these days :)

ok don't laugh but what is wrong with vampires? I haven't played one yet and I only really see them in passing. I have seen the Vlad dude knock on my sims door a few times and then he leaves when I don't answer. I think his daughter has knocked on my current household's door a few times but she just leaves as well. The only ones I have blocked on the door settings is neighbors. I have just never had a problem with vampires for whatever reason and I'm curious, from reading the posts here, as to why you are so anti-vampire.

Vampires only kill victims that get arrested by the fashion police in my game.

The rest of the sims in my game are considered essential and nutured with love for future consumption but not death.

you make me feel not so bad about myself. I mean it is not real life and so what if we uh, remove npcs for offending our senses lol. Now I am going to have to make me a vampire for doing that because it sounds so much more fun than clicking and deleting :)
