With the September 18th Update, Playgrounds are a new venue lot type that have been added to the base game. It's nice to finally have toddlers showing up at lots since they never used to before. However, I noticed that parents/carers don't show up in playgrounds with their kids/toddlers, for the sake of immersion and realism, It would be nice if kids/toddlers are attended with their parents/carers.
Me too! I was surprised to find out that the chaperones mentioned in the official announcement are actually strangers. I didn’t notice it at first since at the time I only have children on my save, I did saw some adults at the playground but none of them are parents to any of the kids, so I thought it only applied to toddlers.
When I saw a mod that will make chaperones for the toddlers to be their parents, I still thought that it was for other stuff, not related to new playground venue. Until I saw it for myself when a toddler from my other household spawn on the lot, and the chaperone was really a stranger…
I really hope that the current settings for the chaperones will be changed for better immersion, I don’t want to rely on mod for things that should have been made and thought properly before being implemented. And not everyone can mod their game.
I wasn't prepared for this! I changed a lot to a playground and my child Sim's dad took her there to test it. I did wonder why toddler play equipment was available in the lot requirements...then they arrived! Toddle-geddon! On a freezing cold day in Newcrest, in their padded coats and onesies with their little hats on. Toddling away all alone. I'm taking deep breaths, looking for parents and telling myself "they're just pixels, they're just pixels" ( like I do with stray pets). But then they started struggling with the steps to the play castle and not a parent or guardian in sight to help them and I thought nope, nope, nope. I sent Maisie home immediately so I didn't have to watch anymore! 🫣
So I think I'm done with the Playground lot type! (Shudders) 🥺
I read that at playgrounds toddlers show up, but their parents don’t. Instead other people do. Is that a bug? It seems so unusual to me for a toddler to not have at least one of their parents there, or at least a teen sibling.
I've asked for toddlers to be more in the world as an NPC with their parents I'm the same way when NPC kids comes to visit after school and they stay late walking home by themselves late I'm panicked like simsplayer818 I say the same thing it's just a game, their just pixels but I also like to play realistically in my game and realistically kids don't walk home in the middle of the night by themselves and toddlers don't show up by themselves to a park. Again this why Sims 2 is the goat when it was time for NPC kid to go home after visiting after school the parents came and picked them up I thought that was a nice touch, also parents were around taking kids to the park. In the beginning parents were around when the kids were at the park yeah I would love for parents to be at the park especially if toddlers are coming in I hate to say this word but that triggers me.
