@djriddle1977Yeah - it's so annoying! They do it while talking to another sim, and that's just rude - even on dates! I would LOVE for this to STOP! Omg - just realized I already posted in this thread - I thought it was new (didn't check the date). I must be getting old.... lol But then again - it can't be said enough!!

I agree this is out of hand. Even the teens taking a million selfies. Unless the action actually takes a photo, I don't want it! Useless animations make tasks take three times as long to do (It already takes a sim like 15 minutes to walk to the other side of a medium sized house, when it shouldn't take more than 2-5min).
Sometimes I wish I could have certain sims without a smartphone and just have a wall phone like the old days, lol.

And first person mode is completely ruined because of this. It’s a cool feature but it’s not even usable since they’re only looking at their phones half the time!

I agree my pet peeve is sending my son for a jog or a mindful walk , and they check the phone all the time !! I think I saw one not checking a phone only once but she had ear buds. Like let them appericiayw the nature . Also in the middle of activities , they can just whip out the phone .
i would also suggest do not disturb mode , cause all the phone ringing all the time while they are sleeping or doing some other activity can be frustrating .

Replying again to bump this issue since so many of us are bothered by it. I don’t know who wanted phone addiction in the game to begin with… But honestly it just makes me super sad at this point. Regardless of how addicted some people are IRL, 1) not everyone is ridiculously addicted to their phone, especially elders, 2) especially not while jogging or in the middle of a conversation, and 3) why should we be normalizing it in a game?!
All we want is the option to disable this animation, so we don’t have to get really sad about humanity while playing the Sims. There’s enough reasons for that in the real world - let this game be an escape.

@djriddle1977What I have noticed is EA will only act on things like this if an idea or a problem gets enough ratings to show this is in demand or enough people are having the same issues and not just a mod interfering.

It's been a year and a half since I posted this, and others have posted similar requests before and since and ea has done NOTHING. it is so obvious they don't care what their customers actually think or want or like. just another ivory tower full of the clueless

@djriddle1977 , I agree that modding the unwanted phone behavior isn't a good option because people who play on consoles can't use this option!

Um, no. Just get rid ot the phone addiction behavior all together, not mod it or excuse it or normalize it.
- HALirious9k10 months agoSeasoned Hotshot@djriddle1977 Or maybe it could be something like the Chopstick Savvy trait from City Living: if you make your Sim use the social apps on the phone too much (like… 5+ times/hour, on three separate days), the Sim could get Phone Addict trait (not unlike the celebrity quirk, but without the moodlets, just the animations).
