Reaper Rewards Event exists in all saves

TLDR: Reaper Rewards Event is in every single save you load whether you like it or not. Old saves, new saves & even broken saves. I don't like this & I'm unsure who to talk to about it so I'm just gonna post this here.

Please forgive me if I am the dummy here but I just loaded into my game on September 24th at 11:09am Central Time & my legacy save suddenly IN GAME forces the Reaper Rewards Event to start. And I am stressed.

This is happening in my BROKEN legacy save that I am trying to fix!? After the last update on September 18th the Off the Grid Lot Challenge broke saves. So I am trying to fix a game issue in a partially broken save & this event just STARTS!? While I am running a troubleshooting gauntlet of load, save, hard restart my PC, repeat to try & diagnose if I've fixed my issue & this Event brute forces it's way into my game save!

I am not at all happy with this. I think I'm not going to be the 1st person to say I expected this would be an optional Opt-In Scenario that we can elect to do in a save of our choosing. To have this Reaper Event hijack an already existing save file just feels offensive to me. And you can't just ignore the Event because it has forced pop-ups and toast messages pressuring you to play the Reaper Event whether you like it or not. Or even whether you can given my game is currently broken. And I don't want to play an Event right now while my save is kinda unplayable. Some lots load forever until the whole game crashes. I really do not want to start an event while dealing with that mess.

I did the 1st task to see what would happen. I bought a flower seed packet. I opened the packet in my inventory and it ticked off the task from the sidebar. Instantly worried I left the save, went back to the main menu & started a fresh save. The Reaper Event again brute forces itself into that new game save & has the progress from my previous action accounted for. So in my new game save I'm being told to plant the flowers I do not currently have in this save. It's easy enough to buy another seed packet but what else does this event entail? Why does this force itself on every save we have? What if the save where I am doing these tasks gets corrupted just like my Legacy save and I cannot continue with the Event tasks? I don't know if any of these things were thought about before launching this Reaper Reward Event & I am now feeling some pretty crippling anxiety that for the next 56 days I am going to be peer pressured by Maxis to play this event ever single time I open the game. This makes me not want to load into the game at all until the event is over but then I would miss out on the Rewards the Event is promising. I cannot be the only person bothered by this whole thing.

Even if I weren't having this issue I would not want an event like this to just start while I am mid-way through playing whatever current game save I am playing with. I would want to start a save specifically for this Event or chose a save to play this Event in.

Are we really going to have to deal with ALL of our saves being hijacked by this Reaper Event for the next 2 MONTHS!?

  • @iheartsandwiches  I'm not arguing with your feedback, but try putting the EA App in offline mode before launching Sims 4.  That may block the event.

If that doesn't work, you can put the App in offline mode and then take your computer offline entirely.

  • And there's more... if for some reason you get the points and earn the rewards but don't want to save that save or for some reason don't save it, the game detects that it has been completed. What happened? I was completing the event tasks. However, a simmer got bugged and I didn't want to save the game. However, when I returned to the main menu and started playing again with the same family, instead of the event being where I had left off, it was already more than half done and I hadn't planted the flowers! Well, that was something that didn't save. In conclusion, I got lost in the middle of the process! Not to mention that the event itself wasn't opening. I had to call upon Lady Death again for the event to open. But even then, it doesn't detect where in the event the save was!

Same happened to me. I started in a newsave to be safe because my old save is buggy. I played for a while and got also the collection boney. Now I go to my beloved save and I can't get my superSim to get the collection complete because the first one is missing. Same for my daughter who plays the game on the same pc and want to play the event in her savefile. How do I get the collection complete in more savefiles? Is there a way to restart the event? Or is this an other example of bad thinking about what players really do with the game?
