Sims = Simulation?

I don't know how they "programmers'" mind works, but I'd say THEY need some work! MOST of my Sim time is spent building because, without cheats, it's a pain in the rump to just play! I know it's not "real life" and it's just a game, but shouldn't games be enjoyable and not frustrating???? In all these years, you can't tell me they haven't gotten enough complaints about certain features that they just ignored? For example... I spent enough time building and decided to play for awhile. I'm over it... So over it. My dogs had puppies. No big deal. They're absolutely adorable. Since there are only 2, I decided to keep them. I also have an infant and a baby on the way. With the dogs, alone, I can't keep up!!! EVERY SINGLE TIME I bathe a dog, another gets skunk sprayed. EVERY TIME I take a dog to the vet, another gets squirrel bitten! Guys! This is Sims! Short for SIMULATION! What about those 2 event simulates REAL LIFE??? Getting sprayed or bitten ONCE IN AWHILE... Sure... I can deal with that. BUT ALL THE TIME???? And as much as I want to stay away from mods or cheats, I can't. It's things like this that FORCE people, like me, to go on the hunt for mods and cheats! And don't get me started on the time! Why isn't there a setting to allow us to change how fast time goes? What I mean is... because time goes by so fast, on top of constantly bathing and taking my dogs to the vet, I am always hungry, or I need to pee, or I need a shower, and my babies... Constantly hungry, peeing or dirty! It's no wonder the gallery is full of so much "crap". People get tired of trying to keep up with just playing that they give up and start building. LOL

Allowing us to adjust the time rate would help so much. In the time it takes to care for pets, children or adults, HOURS fly by! Let us choose to SLOW IT DOWN! PLEASE!

  • More precisely, I'd like to be able to allow my sim to pee without getting a message saying that that sim's child or pet is neglected! Or be able to feed a child without getting a "late for work" message. Again, at one time, ALL of these things were manageable... But with more additions to the game and more objectives, it is more difficult. Even for a game, it's not "realistic". I don't want to "cheat" my way to fame fulfillment. I'd like to be able to just play without panicking that 100 other things need to be done really fast. If YOU can do this, good on you. I'm impressed. But again, with this SAME complaint coming up so often AS YOU SAID, seems you're in the minority on this one. ;)

    It has nothing to do with whether or not I know how to use cheats. I can use any cheat I like. But I don't want to. That is my point.

    There are hundreds of ways to make the game easier already.

    They are not going to butcher the core gameplay loop to appeal to people who don't know how to use cheats.

    "Time management" may be ONE component of this game, but it is not the absolute objective. It may have been "manageable" with the beginning release of Sims 1-4, but with every add on, there are more and more objectives. If this is how YOU enjoy playing, more power to you... In your words: "This complaint keeps coming up and I just don't understand it."
    Let me help you understand it... If it KEEPS COMING UP, it's a COMMON complaint, if it's a common complaint, just short of a general consensus, then maybe the developers should listen to the PAYING public and add time change management as an ADD ON... Then, "die hard" simmers, such as yourself, can keep playing against the clock, and others, like me and SO MANY others, can play at a more leisurely pace.  Mkay? ;)

  • Don't let your pets near the pee bushes, as that's what causes the constant squirrel/skunk encounters. I agree it's way over-tuned. If you're in a world that has them in the neighborhood, fence the yard and lock the gate for pets (or even just keep them indoors and lock the door). If you placed one on your lot, either remove it or fence it off.

    Also, in a way, you can change the speed? There's the three speeds at the bottom, that change how fast the clock/animations go, and there's also the lifespan settings in the game settings. You can even turn aging off entirely, and only age them up when you're ready, if you want to spend more time in a particular life stage.

    There's also reward traits to slow or stop need decay if you earn the satisfaction points to buy them.

  • This complaint keeps coming up and I just don't understand it. This is a video game- that means it has rules, goals, and obstacles. The obstacle in The Sims is time management. Time management is your reward for progression. Your skills are better? You can make more money. You have more money? You can buy better furniture. Your skills unlock better abilities. Your food can be better, you can make robots to help you, you can develop crystal powers, you can become famous to get perks, etc. Those things make everything else easier, giving you more time to do other stuff. It's the ENTIRE gameplay loop of the game, it's the ENTIRE POINT of playing.

    Anyway, they will not be creating a way to change the game time speed. Every single thing in the game is tied to the game speed and adjusting it implodes the entire game as a result, it's built around the speed as designed.
