Sims 4: make newborns optional / remove newborns from the game

Infants are highly preferable to newborns gameplay-wise and now we have 3 baby lifestages (newborn, infant, toddler). This seems excessive. It would be optimal to me if a player could click on an infant crib to give birth and have an infant baby, skipping the newborn stage entirely. For those that want newborns to remain, it seems the best idea to make them optional.

    @lauriekirsty_xx luckily you can just age them up. I only leave them newborn for a day if my Sims give birth. Or you can adopt from infant age and by doing that you can skip having a newborn. I usually adopt.

    As the infant life stage was only recently added I don't imagine it would be changed now. It's quite a big change to the game mechanics.

    I prefer the infant life stage over the newborn one though as you can do more with them and interact more with them too.
