I was only trying to explain in-depth, definitely all friendly here!
Also, I love your images of the Sims in potential competing gestures. It brings to life exactly what we'd like to see!
Wouldn't we all love to cheer our sims on in a sports tournament leading up to the huge tournaments challenge!
I know. Keep discussing. Keep explaining. Keep arguing 🥳 I want these ideas presented to the developers. Get us in-depth sports events! While I was trying to shoot a swimming competition picture, I went crazy, they did not swim in line, regardless of me setting the lap markers on the bottom. Or I could not find a sporty swimming suit for the female body. Or even in a Club gathering, using a bike is not an option... it is an option, Bike here together, my sim was riding everybody else was jogging. And of course, ruined that picture as well, when before running, they all changed out of their carefully set up Club outfit into their random athleticware... Never work with Sims, useless bunch 😉

Experientially speaking per patch notes and fixes, I know the Dev's have exactly what it takes to properly execute such an amazing expansion pack.
I'm sure swimming in lines, jogging in lines or even having a sim play basketball on a 1 on 1 will be easy for the Dev's. Considering we have many existent features in game that already highlight the potential for a Sports Tournaments Expansion.
Keep the photos coming, I'd love to see more!

@MazsolaCsibi Your diving examples are great! Not only did I understand this as a 1-v-1 example, but your images remind me that synchronized swimming and synchronized diving could also be a possibility to include in a sports pack.
Gameplay objects would need to be a major feature to properly code a racing mechanic. Swim lanes would be objects that snap together. A running track would be needed (with upgrades for hurdles) for jogging, sprinting, relay. Field sports would require their own placible objects. A gymnastics tumble mat (10x10) for floor routines. A gymnastics tumble track (2x14) for Cartwheels, Somersault, Round-Offs, etc. A soccer goal object for 1-v-1 shootouts (ref Sims 3). Weightlifting Squat Rack object.
The way that I could imagine the Sims 4 implementing a Sports pack is with emphasis on training and practice to prepare for rabbithole tournaments - just like horse competitions (Sims 3 & 4). Not ideal, but works within the limits of Sims 4 coding. For this, it'd be new and unique to see a bracket system be instituted for a Tournament mechanic.
To round-out a Sports pack, emphasis could be on Sports Culture:
- Tailgate parties
- 1-v-1 contests
- Youth sports
- Coaching
- Training & performance
- Competitive personality
- Sportsmanship
- Physical therapy
I could see a new skill being introduced: Athletics (Sport Ability). Not to be confused with Fitness. Was a skill in Sims 3.
Fitness
- Improve Strength
- Improve Speed
- Physique
- Endurance (Energy Need)
- Reduce Injury
Athletics = How well do you play sports?
- Reduce failure rate / clumsiness
- Improve Competition Success Rate (tournament and 1v1 contests)
- Improve Jump Height
- Improve Jump Length
- Improve Agility
- Unlock Styles and Techniques:
- Stretches
- Jump Rope
- Gymnastic Flips & Leaps
- Hurdles
- Bodybuilding Flexes & Poses
- Swimming Styles
New Community Lot Type: Athletics Center
- On-site NPCs: Sports Trainer & Physical Therapist
- Sims will autonomously seek out and play sport activities here. Hone the Athletics Skill. Challenge other Sims to a race or contest, or Sims may challenge you!
- Increase the frequency of autonomous interactions with Sports Equipment (Basketball Hoop, Soccer Goal, Soccer Ball, Football, jump rope, Gymnastics mat, etc)
- Ages Teen+ will spawn
There's also the possibility to include a Physical Therapist career to help with training, recovery and to pass a physical for Tournaments ("Clear for Competition"). I go into this idea further in another forum post about a Sports Pack:

@Vyo4I love all of your ideas! This is quite astonishing knowing what simmers are capable of bringing to the table.
Although I must mention again, it would be quite amazing to at least be able to attend small tournaments based on which sport it is. I'm sure there's a way to include one or two sports that can be watched by the player during normal tournaments.
Athletics Center's would be an amazing addition especially with the potential for there to be lot traits that attract sims who are athletes and currently enrolled into sports.
Along with the Athletics skill. I love the idea of this skill being introduced to the Sims 4. Along with Sportsmanship being another skill, or sportsmanship being a part of the new Talent trait system that a sim can gain after spending quite a time being successful in normal tournaments. Is there anyone capable of creating a graphical illustration of what the new UI tournaments could look like?
I am imagining there is a tab with the team a sim is currently enrolled with, the rank they hold in their team, team players (up to 4?), how many medals your sim has won and whether they're silver, bronze or gold, skills pertaining to the sport they're in and training days.
Just a few ideas.
Also, a physical therapist career would be a great inclusion for a pack like this. Not to mention there could be an added modality to the massage table for Athletes.

Some of the more decent "Try to play Basketball together" photos.

I so would like to know what other people like best, what kind of sport would you like to see in the game?
