Sims 4 Suggestion for Developers: More Save Files on Console, etc.

Hello, I love The Sims 4 and The Sims franchise and spin-off games. I have a few gameplay suggestions for the developers that may help Sims 4 players, *but only if implemented correctly*.

Console players *really* need more Save Game Files. 10 is not enough for frequent players in a 10-year-old game. At least, give us 25 saved games plus 1 auto save (like in Sims 3). Additionally, we could use a Library Expansion, room for at least 100 more Sims, lots, etc. in the library. There is a decade of content now. This paragraph of suggestions is much more important than the next one I will mention, in my estimation. There is also less to say about it because it is straightforward.

The lesser suggestion: Please include REDUNDANCY and flexibility in this game as often as possible, because a system of REDUNDANCY in Sims gameplay may help. For example, I encountered an unfamiliar glitch this month involving Missing Menus and a sudden inability to Purchase Books, Order Medicine, Order Delivery from Zoomers, etc. However, if there were alternate methods in the game (without mods or CC, console player here) of Purchasing Books, meds, and other Delivery items, then perhaps this glitch wouldn't "break the game." Another example, I recently encountered another glitch (or unwanted update) stacking one sim's face at the bottom of the user interface above the others on an unmodded game, and I don't like it. However, if I could drag and drop the Sim's portrait on the UI back to the bottom to line up in a row with the others, I could continue as usual (though I am also afraid that a sloppy or hasty implementation of these suggestions could break the game even more) and etc. If most features are not "bottlenecks" with only one way to do something, there will be more workarounds for players. Of course, with fewer errors this would not be necessary. Another glitch was not being able to restore a burnt stove from Live Mode, without having to enter Build Mode to sell it and buy it or another stove again, etc. However, this glitch is less severe because you can still replace the stove, it is just inconvenient. Workarounds are not the ideal, but perhaps 2 or more ways of accomplishing a task would help. This game already has this for some features, but many "game breaking" features are "bottlenecks" that we can only accomplish in one way. Console players in particular, are in need of workarounds.

  • @Xemisa2World consoles can only handle so much unfortunately. There's no way it could handle that many save games. I can only speak as an Xbox player but after extensive advice from Xbox Support, the game runs better with less storage used not more. I run 2 save games on Xbox Series X with all packs and never go over 3. We're currently seeing a raft of major saving problems/bugs. The first thing I always say, after getting that advice from Xbox Support over the years is to cut anything non essential and reduce your save files. It's in our standard troubleshooting advice too. This game is absolutely vast and even on a next gen console there are limits. A library expansion would also cause more problems too as filling the library itself causes issues. Increasing it would undoubtedly cause instability.

I get that in a ideal world it would be great if our consoles could handle that amount of game, but in reality I know that Xbox can't. I remember telling Xbox Support that I had loads of free space back on Xbox One but they just told me it doesn't matter, it doesn't work that way. It takes a lot of power to run a game of this size.

So while I get that you'd like to see that and it would be great if it was possible but until consoles are made to be powerful enough to handle it, to optimise our game performance it's better to use less storage not more. Until Microsoft and PlayStation produce the kind of super console that can cope with it.

For the glitches you are seeing, we have a bug section here if you'd like to take a look at how it works:

I'm going to add the console troubleshooting steps for you too.

Okay. Good point. I am actually quite satisfied with that answer as far as more space, etc. That makes sense. When the game is running smoothly, I am happy with it. I will check out the glitch information, thank you!

@simsplayer818 Amazing. Detailed information on the console troubleshooting steps. This was very helpful to read. Thank you! I have noticed one of these previously posted glitches in my own gameplay: [PS] Cursor Scrolls too Fast Randomly. This shows up on the free Base Game version and also on every PlayStation 4 version of Sims 4 in the family, regardless of what packs are downloaded and installed or absent. The frequency is about 70 to 90% of the time in CAS Mode, it will show up. It can be managed sometimes. Sometimes it goes away after saving your household, though it is difficult to use the cursor to do that. It usually goes away and comes back. Usually I can get it to stop, at least temporarily, so I can finish the character or household I am working on and save to the Library and/or Gallery.

I wonder if they had a storage system like Minecraft does would that work to add more save files. I'm on PS5 and all of my files are on the cloud. Also I have the option to install Sims on my exterior hd an option to have saves extended there maybe? Also I'm wondering if they'll optimize Sims for PS5 and pro.
