I agree! Its not even that the game is old, its just at this point they obviously need another shot at recoded and re-imagined base systems that aren't fighting with ideas coded into base game over a decade ago. I also hate the idea the packs you've bought so far is "lost". No it isn't. I played Sims 3 two weeks ago and 1 year from now I could jump back on that same save even if I hadn't touched it in a year. Nothing was lost.
I know people hate the idea of a shop, but at this point...just make a bloody shop for cosmetics! So many people admit to buying the packs JUST for the cosmetic. Instead they take either half-baked or remixed ideas and throw them into an "EP" and then add enough bloat to justify EP price. And often this bloat needs to change something in the code so even if you don't buy the pack you have to deal with the affects on the base game code and whatever associated packs you do own.
