I think disability rep in the Sims could go such a long way for accessibility in the outside world. Sims was one of the first games to really let you explore queerness, so it would be amazing to show more of the spectrum of disability. Would loose to see more medical wearables like ostomies, prosthetics, tracks, braces and orthotics. More allergy (gluten free, nut free, egg free) diet modifications. Mobility aids like wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches. Accessible building tools like ramps and elevators so people can explore what it means to build accessible buildings. You’ve already got hearing aids, add Sim Sign Language? Maybe a physical therapy career? Disability Pride and neurodivergent pride flags!

@milliehillie ASL would be SSL — Simlish Sign Language. The Verge had a deep dive feature in the history of Simlish and making it into a Sign Language would be awesome, specially since Sims’ models are already articulated with several hand/finger joints. (It would be A HECK OF A HILLCLIMB to rig and animate fully, though.)
Mechanically, it would be cool to have SSL proficiency be a trait akin to Chopstick Savvy, if not a bona fide skill. When interacting with other proficient signers, a Sim could get a confident moodlet. Deaf could be a trait and whenever a Deaf Sim isn’t wearing their hearing aids (e.g., in some swimming/sleep outfits), they could have issues when trying to socialize with Sims that don’t know SSL.
