Suggestion for Menopause for the Adult Life Stage

There have been discussions of players requesting a "Middle Age" life stage to bridge the age gap between Adult and Elder. I second this motion. This life stage could experience moodlets of "hot flashes" for female Sims going through "the change" with a significantly reduced chance of pregnancy.

For me, a more ambitious idea would be to add another life stage titled "Retired" between "Middle Age" and Elder where Sims could enjoy their empty nest years without all the back pain and exhaustion death that looms over Elder Sims.

Here is my ambitious breakdown for adding more Lifestages:

1. Newborn - 0 to 3 months
2. Infant - 3 to 12 months
3. Toddler - 1 to 3 years
4. Preschool - 4 to 6
5. Child - 7 to 10
6. Preteen / Tween - 11 to 14
7. Teen - 15 to 18
8. Young Adult - 19 to 29
9. Adult - 30 to 39
10. Middle Aged - 40 to 64
11. Retired / Empty Nester - 65 - 74
12. Elder 75+

Add a Shuffle Walk for Elder stage and/or cane.

And yes, more greying hair to match each hair color swatch would be great.

When considering the addition of new lifestages, currently there are 8 lifestages that can comfortably fit every age into 1 household maxed at 8 Sims. Would introducing new lifestages mean that household size would also need to be increased? Possibly. Could the Sims 4 core code actually handle a 12 Sim household? Possibly. Maybe a Game Option slider to increase household size from 8 to 12 could be a possible solution if needed.

i love your ideas, they should definitely add preteens and middle aged category

i created a pack idea based on toddlers but it can match with the new stage "preschool" better

middle school for preteens

and if the team decided to create a pack based on children (7 - 10) they can create an elementary school for them

I don't know about this idea.

Menopause needs to have periods in the first place (you can't stop something that never began).

If Perimenopausal phase is added then young adult male sim would also need this "Sexual Peak" phase. 

But it could be "out-of-range" for a Teen rated game.

Whatever happened to just playing the game and using one's imagination...🙄

Sims getting pregnant automatically implies that there is menstruation - it is utterly ridiculous that adult Sims can get pregnant, have a baby, and then the next day age up to an elder. The elder dies within days, and the baby is an orphan. Ridiculous. 

You give me the impression you have never once in your life personally experienced the reproductive cycle - do you think babies are planted in a sim like a seed by another sim? That is offensive TBH. Pregnancy isn't passive. What bitterness have you got against people with uteruses?

gertie does have a good point about period and menopause

sure just because you have periods doesn't always mean you get pregnant but it's rare so i get where this comes from though

someone once asked for this too so it's not the first time about having periods in the game

i'm neutral about this though but i'm not against this either so i'll be happy for others if it's in basegame

i think the solution is to enable/disable the cyclus with periods and menopause as an option for those who doesn't want that in The Sims 4, maybe that can work if you can toggle it on/off

That's why I ask for a middle aged Lifestage or senior lifestage as well at this age they are done with having children, probably have grand children, can have the option of retire early, take care of their elderly parents if the parents are still around, they should also experience a midlife crisis, go on vacation, do hobbies like the kids are out of the house you can retire just enjoy life before you become an elder. Also become a cougar or sugar daddy...I mean...wait what? Lol. 

Not interested in this lifestyle or trait added to my game. 

This request ups the rating in the game and you can have this in your game as a mod if you play on PC.

Edit: isn't midlife crisis good enough? Dang!

Some Simmers like myself don't play with mods, mods are not the answer to everything if you're not interested that's your opinion you're not interested however I'm interested in this topic and would want this in the game. 

I can tell you are young, lol! Menopause is absolutely not saucy (in fact, the opposite) - I would say the process of getting pregnant is far more saucy than a person reaching a point in their life where they can't get pregnant anymore, and pregnancy and woohoo is in the game 🤣

The crux of all I'm really asking for in-game is to make adult life-stage sims with uteri become incapable of pregnancy halfway through that life-stage. There wouldn't even need to be any major discussion in game, no trait, nothing (so not to offend people like you who seem to be offended by uteri 😉)

I mean, the game is already implying menopause by the fact that elder sims cannot get pregnant - all I'm suggesting is that occurs half way through the adult life stage. 

(Though of course, I would be all for expanded game-play experiences to do with menopause, and other life stages - but heaven forbid we offend anyone ... clutches pearls...)
