The New Look For the Event Goals Menu . . .

I have to say I find the new look, while colorful, to be very hard to read. Don't know if it's just my eyes, which are problematic, at best, but while my Sims were busy celebrating Liberty Day, one I created, I discovered an orangish-red pool of color underneath the firework icon, one of the goals for this 'holiday'. Then I really started to give the entire menu a good looking over. I do make a point to help each and every Sim in my household to fulfill these goals, so that they aren't grumpy over the awful holiday, or it's over messages that come up around 2AM, game time. But even though they were present, I couldn't see any checkmarks displayed by the goal. And what it with the two rather squiggly lines on the end of the event?

I found I could barely see any checkmarks beside each goal to make certain my Sims had fulfilled them. As it ended up, most of the household had a miserable time, despite my efforts to corral them to watch the fireworks. Is there a way to darken the checkmark so that its existence is more clearly seen, by chance? Had I realized at the time, they didn't fulfill this, I could have tried again. There was time on the clock, after all. Please, and thank you, in advance.
