What is EA waiting for?iPad Pro has the power to run the REAL The Sims 4 (and expansions), not that “mobile” version full of in-app purchases to do everything.Will EA release a TS4 iPadOS version? And if not, WHY, considering I can play a full game like Civilization VI?

I was hopeful that Sims 4 would work on my iPad Pro as well... When I researched and found that it wasn't able to run it on my iPad I was disappointed. I was hoping I could have a portable version of the game as I don't like the mobile version so much. It's been a while since I've needed a laptop as my iPad Pro can basically do everything my laptop did and it's more compact. I obviously play the game on my desktop but I'm sad when I can't bring it with me when I travel.

The M1 is a really impressive CPU, it is a technological milestone, but it is not even close to the Multicore performance of "the latest" high end AMD or Intel Desktop CPUs. So all in all, an IPad Pro with M1 is a great device, but it is in no way "more powerful" than a gaming desktop.

Please, EA, make the IPad Pro M1 capable of running The Sims 4 because it is quick and strong. I am excited to purchase this new ipad, but I want The Sims 4 on it because it will make my day if EA worked on it.

@Jfranz18 @jpkarlsenThe iPad Pro with M1 chip will be absolutely capable of running the game now. It has the same chip as the MacBook Airs, 13" MacBook Pros and Mac minis released at the end of last year which can happily run the game. It is also the same chip in the newly announced iMacs. The M1 Macs can also run iPhone and iPad apps due to the new architecture. However, the M1 iPad Pros will still be running iPadOS, not macOS, and Sims 4 is developed for macOS and Windows.One of two things needs to happen to be able to play the current Sims 4 on the M1 iPad - Either EA need to develop a version for iPadOS or Apple need to make it possible for the iPad to run macOS.If you have a compatible Mac you could use the iPad as a second display using Sidecar but that's all it is, a second display. @iTunex Though I understand your frustration, I see it more an an irony and frustration with my iPad Pro that it has all this power but I feel that I very much under-use it. It seems to function far more like a giant smart phone, which I find annoying in the end. I have an iMac, so having a laptop seemed overkill, but the money spent on the iPad Pro seems an over-pay and underkill for functionality that I actually use. I love the product, but dislike the limitations for my particular usage patterns.I must admit, I would enjoy if I could run a full version of Sims on it, but....The loss of a mouse (or even touch pad) would be a deal breaker for me...The full game cannot be run via touch screen...And... mobile Sims is apples and oranges to the full game. <sigh> ☹️So it seems I'm at an impasse with this idea, imho. 😞 It almost seems to me like a tablet version would be needed for that, but I assume this would take massive re-coding on EA's part, and would require the sale and purchase of another version of the game geared toward tablets. 🤔 Having said all of that, I am curious. I haven't played Civilization IV. What's different in that game that allows the interface to work on tablet? I may check that out!

I know right, thank you for assisting me in determining how powerful the ipad pro M1 is, and what to expect if the ipad pro has the M1 chip. I believe it would be able to handle the sims 4, which they must build for ipads.

Why must they? Why not just buy a Mac? You can buy a MacBook Air with pretty much the same spec and a full operating system for a few quid more.

I already have a Macbook Air M1 but it doesn't have a touch screen, do you know what I mean? I'd like to try out their new touch screen device in The Sims 4, if you get what I'm saying. I'm trying to persuade them that the iPad Pro M1 can run the game. Apple will have to focus on dual booting the ipad pro M1 to macos major sur or render ipados sims4. I believe Apple will need to inform EA that the iPad Pro M1 is capable of running The Sims 4.

Yes the iPad Pro is now capable of running the game but it would have to be re-developed with touch screen controls. Not sure why Apple would have to notify EA that the M1 iPad Pro could run the game, it's up to EA to write the game for the platform.

7 years down the line and I just hope that more bugs get fixed in the game, not more time spent on developing it for another platform.

@Jfranz18 The new M1 iPads will be more powerful that most laptops today, certainly that many laptops available circa 2013 when this game launched. Truly hope that EA finds a way to work with Apple (Rosetta 2?) to translate the program over.

Perhaps Sims 4 console, plus a OTA game streamer? Still requires a keyboard (magic keyboard) and mouse (fine by me... Apple Pencil could eventually become a great substitute).

Is there ever any possibility of The Sims 4 coming to the iPad now that it has the M1 chip? All the boards I am seeing is already dated so wanting to know.

iPads have ram, iPad pros are more than capable of running sims 4, it’s not that demanding of a game.

What you can do (and what I do) is just go in the Xbox game pass app and stream sims 4 over xcloud! Just need an Xbox controller though and good internet connection!

Of course, iPad Pro has more than enough power to run such a simple game as Sims 4. I bet even a normal iPad from ~5 years ago has more than enough power to run it.
The latest IPad Pro with M1 CPU is faster than most of the latest Intel i7 CPUs, basically making it more powerful than most desktop PCs.

The only problem is that EA won't release it for iPadOS/iOS (and it's definitely not a hardware limitation).
