CAS in the game itself is a mess too. I noticed that yesterday, I was editing a 3 sim family when I realised that all 3 family members had been given the same name by CAS when they loaded, and the same age. It was a mother, teen daughter and child when I loaded them for editing. To get them back as they were, I had to use a cheat to reset the real ages and names after exiting CAS.
How do the coders manage to make such a mess like this every time we get an update or patch?
