Untagged Gallery CC
So there are a BUNCH of posts on the gallery (particularly sims) that are untagged as CC despite clearly containing CC or overrides. This is driving me up the wall. Overrides should count as CC. At l...
Thanks so much for bringing this concern here @Jellyfishdotorg. I only wish I'd seen this report sooner as a majority of us CAS creators have been discussing the problem of converted default cc on Twitter X, Reddit and Discord servers for months now. First and foremost, it is clearly cc yet the conversion process allows the cc to bypass the gallery flag for eye catching visibility. Essentially, the creators converting cc are doing this intentionally to trick the gallery flag. This leads the sim creation to be a visible part of the gallery which then leads us to be tricked ourselves. I was even tricked once thinking The Sims had refreshed a base game hairstyle 🤔
Also, since only a few creators seem to be willing to break the rules and convert the cc, this is now massively unfair gatekeeping. They seem to give the files to a select few or teach others how to convert the cc for their gallery use. Since most of the default cc we are seeing in the gallery has been originally created by another custom content creator, we can't access the default file for our own use. Not that I want to use it as I feel as you do. Fully annoyed by seeing all that cc filling the popular now gallery filter used by a minority of simmers.
Additionally, as I said, they are taking the official cc files from respectable cc creators and putting that creators' original file through the conversion process to be visible in the gallery. CC is supposed to be clearly labeled as cc in the gallery so that we do not get tricked into believing we will somehow receive what we are seeing on the sim. That's why a few of us created the #wysiwyg hashtag. It is a fair play gallery effort for all who want to be a responsible voice in our community.
Lastly, I know this may upset some who love custom poses but honestly I'm fine with those getting a cc flag at this point too because ultimately I want to create a positive play experience for all simmers. Console users are a part of our gallery community as well and they have no option at all to use poses, cc, defaults or the like.
Thank you for listening & I hope EA will find a way to fix this unfair gallery practice that only a few seem to appreciate. Keep on simmin on ~ Lisa 💜
@Jellyfishdotorg I agree with everything that has been said above. This has gone too far. I was guilty of using default skin/eyes for a while but I since deleted those sims (the gallery brought them back) Now all my sims are default free. I would love to see the defaults flag as custom content as that is what it is. The images provided are proof of how much these defaults change a sim. Not my sim.
Another classic case of ignoring the problem and then releasing a pack that will depend on broken features (gallery sims like this will be AWFUL for online dating). I just can't understand what must go on at these meetings at the EA level. Surely the Sims team can see these as potential issues??
It would be great if the Sims team added more poses to the existing ones, such a close-up like some Simmers have created (but without changing the Sim's overall appearance) speaking of the new dating app coming up!
