I agree with this so much. I deeply regret getting Lovestruck because I have to babysit my sims' relationships constantly instead of letting them work on getting skills and jobs and kids and whatever. Romantic stuff now has to be done every other day or so, even with the Romantic Sage trait, and it's so frustrating. I sometimes don't bother with relationships anymore because of it and instead just make sims have science babies as single parents.
