@mrstank30 Hi, I totally get where you're coming from. What are your top 3-5 biggest issues? Maybe we (assuming others join in this thread, lol) can help you troubleshoot through them with ideas we have or find you some answers to get you having fun again. 🙂
- merrysimmaker2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@LadyAofPineapple hello, thanks. Yes, well that's the problem isn't it. There are so many issues coming up in any game and they are all different. Some you can blow off and some are so hard to overlook they affect gameplay. I once tried to make a list of issues but it became overwhelming and I had to stop.
For example, my current game has dogs obsessed with fireplaces to the point they won't eat or go outside. I also have an issue where all doors of any kind stay up in rentals including apartments, dorms for University and all the new residential rentals. Both of these are pretty interfering. I also have a save that was my primary game and all the sims in all the houses (played and unplayed) started aging up/elders dying off. This was after the big aging bug that was "fixed". One day I turned aging back on in a new save and it has seemed fine I think. All those sims in my main game tho, they all have full aging bars and had to be manually fixed (well I got some of them fixed). I also have issues with excessive fears, burnout, personality trait changes popping up constantly (no I do not want them to be a perfectionist-it's always the same few traits). This definitely doesn't cover all the issues and some come and go, some get fixed in patches, and some go and come back later. Some have google fixes/mod fixes/random things to try but it's exhausting. Oh did I mention I finally just gave up completely on neighborhood stories. I would turn off parts of it but then all the sims in the game would randomly move somewhere, or die in increasingly freak accidents, end up with a 1 sim household with 7 pets or babies.
One of the other big issues is the threads for a lot of the issues are basically dead. There is not much help in there unfortunately. Finding workarounds or solutions can be time consuming. Each time something comes up, I feel like I just have to stop playing, pull my mods (I don't use a ton of mods), test the game, go through all the steps, try a new save, etc. I recently reorganized all my saves and renamed them all to clean them up. I had just shy of 50 saves that I kept and countless others I deleted. That says how much troubleshooting I do. Honestly it's more than I play the actual game.
Ultimately I just hoped to find others who are struggling with this kind of stuff and maybe build a small group of us who can chat here about our frustrations and maybe help each other with the issues we face particularly when the help thread for it is dead. I am a long time player, just shy of 20 years and Sims 3 had quite a few bugs especially at the end but Sims 4 has just been plagued with issues. I know how it goes though as the wife of a software engineer. Bugs are part of it but it's just gotten so excessive and so hard to enjoy the game.
Hopefully this thread can be helpful for more than just me. I just want to play the actual game and enjoy it rather than having it add to my stresses. (Sorry for the long post!)
