I love kits, I think their value varies from kit to kit. I've bought most of them except for Bust the Dust and Modern Menswear because they looked like the least value for money IMO. I know Bust the Dust adds gameplay but I've been told of annoying bugs for some players so I didn't bother with that one. I'm adding First Fits next time I create a family.
The best value kit for me is Decor to the Max. I think it's well worth it and surpassed my expectations. It's not just the items, it's also the large variety of colour swatches available for each item.
On console though, we can't bundle and I'd like to see maybe 3 for 2 offers on kits or free kits with a large purchase. I was just talking to a couple of young players about this the other day when I had a young relative pop by. I've bought her quite a lot of Sims Xbox content in one big purchase one Xmas (before the base game went free) and when I was paying for it all I was thinking, when I'm buying so many packs in one purchase it would be great to get a free pack thrown in. Because if she was on PC I could have made a bundle purchase.
Her friend hadn't heard about the free Desert Luxe offer last year (another very good kit). She couldn't believe she'd missed out and only has the base game due to financial restraints. So I wish that had been made permanently free with the download of the base game or if that kind of free kit offer could be a recurring thing for anyone who missed out the first time.
@simsplayer818 - I have all of them. The thing with Bust the Dust is it's more than just the handful of items. There's also gameplay there. There's regular housecleaning, but also the Dust Bunnies. Those can be great for making money in no-cheat play and Rags-to-Riches plays. They can be befriended and asked to search for treasure. Sometimes they come back with a few Simoleons, sometimes rare plants, or even expensive treasures like the Jungle Adventures temple treasures that sell for several thousand. There's value in that pack beyond the items. Also, the Dust bunnies are pretty cute, and once befriended they can survive the vacuum cleaner acting as both treasure finders and simple little household pets.
- peno112 years agoRising Veteran@iamsweetmystery I definitely agree here. I see a lot of hate and critique for Bust the Dust, but out of the 7 Kits I have (though one of them is the Desert Deluxe, which was given free before Sims went F2P last year, so, only count 6 kits I actually paid for), this and First Fits kit are the only two I don't really regret the money. Bust the Dust is really funny and quirky in the right Sims way. I am playing Sims since Sims 1 back in 2000 and these kind of things always belonged to the series. Seeing them in this kit is bringing my inner Sims fanboyism LOL

@peno11 - I can relate. I started ages ago with The Sims Bustin' Out on GameCube. I have Sims 1, Bustin' Out, Sims 2, Sims 2 Pets, and The Urbz on GameCube. Sims 2 Castaway on PS2, Bustin' Out on GBA, Sims 2, 3 & 4 for PC, and Sims 4 for PS4. Loooong time Simmer. The weird quirky humorous stuff has been a staple of the series, and having literal living rabbit-like dust bunnies falls right in line with that. Plus, they're so cute and harmless, I actually feel bad on the rare occasions I need to stomp them. Normally, I just let them vanish when I vaccum. Not long ago, a guest fed one and I was left with no choice. Most of the hate for the Kit comes from people that haven't played it and don't understand what it's really about. They just see the item list and think they're getting ripped off paying $5 for half a dozen vacuums. Same superficial hate happens for Batuu. People misunderstand what it is. They gripe about not being able to use the force and stuff like that, but Batuu is an immersive role-playing amusement park for Sims to vacation at, not an actual space port in the Star Wars universe.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@iamsweetmystery That's interesting about Bust the Dust. I had a different idea in my head about it. So can I ask in households that don't have the vacuum cleaners do they remain kind of unaffected by dust, etc? Like with Laundry Day where there's no laundry without Washers? I might change my mind about it.
I absolutely adored Sims Bustin Out. I've played them all on PS/PC/Xbox but Bustin Out was my favourite and when I got Basement Treasures and saw the heart shaped bed in pieces I thought noooo, old friend what have they done to you?
