[HSY] Teen Sim Fails to Become Valedictorian Despite Meeting Requirements

Please follow these steps to test  your game on vanilla game with no mods/cc

• Create a backup of your save game
• Move your mods folder to the desktop
• Delete the following files from your user folder.
  • localthumbcache
  • Any lastException Files
  • Any LastCrash files.
• Test on the backup of your save as you will loose all cc on the save and see if the same error occurs, then report back. You will probably need to go back to from before it all happened but it sounds like you ahve a backup from that ?

Hi, thank you for your instructions. Luckily, yea I still have a save file before that Sim plan a social event. Okay I'll test it w/o Mods/CC. I'll be right back soon!

I’m reporting back after testing this save file in a vanilla game (all Mods/CC disabled). Below are four screen capture videos attached:

1. Proof of Mods/CC disabled.

2. Requirements check before planning a social event: "Aced it on Exam" buff active, school performance maxed.

3. At a social event, checking her age and calendar before blowing out candles. I adjusted the schedule to avoid the buff expiring the next day.

4. Blowing out candles moment, result: she graduated with honors, but surprisingly, no graduation event is marked on her calendar.

In conclusion, this bug persists with or without mods, as I noted earlier. It seems mods didn’t significantly impact it, cuz there are THREE Sims that SUCCESSFULLY became Valedictorian before when Mods/CC installed. I also noticed a new bug: she isn’t scheduled for the graduation ceremony on Sunday of the following week.

What’s your next step? Would you like I send my save file? I’ve redressed all Sims who lost CAS CC in this backup save, btw.

Leaving this to EA to figure out. I really don't have the time to check.

I wanted to give an update to you: I’m currently testing a theory I suspected. I loaded an older save from Thursday of that week, replayed everything that day, including studying for the exam until the interaction grayed out, marking my Sim fully prepared by Friday.

Long story short, she aced the exam again (see pict "Screenshot (579)". However, I noticed something odd: she can still select "Study for Exam" after taking it, see Screenshot (580).

This never occurred with my three successful Valedictorians, where the "Study for Exam" option remained grayed out from until Monday (which makes sense, as it’s for the following week, right?).

I suspect this bug causes the game to mark her as not having taken the exam that week (I’m unsure why).

To test further, I took her to Ravenwood to "Wish for Long Life" at the well, successfully extending her age (Screenshot 581). She now has 10 days until aging up, so I can test her next week (Screenshot 582). I’ll follow up with the results then.

Additional note: Ignore my Sim who lost her mermaid ring on her plumbob. It because of my Expanded Mermaid Mods. Yea, i'm played with Mods/CC enabled again. I just can't stand playing all day without mods because the annoying paparazzi, my mermaid have no power to kill them :(

But, I promise will test her in vanilla game for next week in back up save.

Here’s the update from the next week (after I extended her age):  

• She studied for the exam until the interaction grayed out at 9:25 AM on Monday (see "Screenshot (584)").
• On Tuesday, I noticed the "Study for Exam" interaction reappeared (see "Screenshot (585)"); I’m unsure why. Then, I had her study again until it grayed out at 6:37 AM (see "Screenshot (586)"), after that, it remained grayed out until Friday
• On Friday, I sent her to school alone because joining her caused the progress bar to never reach gold, and of course it makes I won't get the "Aced It" buff, despite completing all tasks (I have a screenshots and can make a separate report if needed).
• After 3:00 PM, she returned with the "Aced It" buff, but the "Study for Exam" option reappeared (see "After School Day on Friday" video). This is frustrating, what am I missing? Why does this keep happening?

I stopped testing, as I expect the same outcome.

Additional Notes:  Before Friday, I played with Mods/CC enabled (se her plumbob shows; she lost her mermaid ring due to my Expanded Mermaid mod).  
On Friday, I saved the game, created a backup, and played in vanilla mode. The "Before School on Friday" video shows I disabled all Mods/CC, removed the Mods folder, and confirmed "Study for Exam" remained grayed out.

I'm stepping away from this bug issue. I’m exhausted. It seems the HSY pack does have numerous bugs, as others have noted.
