All lots reverted back to default lots?

I noticed on the neighborhood view my houses that I built were no longer showing up. The houses are the default lots when you start a new neighborhood and when I entered a lot that had a house I had built on it, the lot was empty. I only went onto one lot because I fear my houses will all be gone. The only house that is showing correctly is the Von-Windenburg Estate which was the lot I entered the game on. I exited the game and re-entered the incorrectly imaged lot and the lot was once again empty. I do not use any mods or cc. My game was fine prior to today's update/pack release.

  • simhead82  Okay, then I'm not sure why it crumbles some of the time.  (I've recreated this kind of behavior in a pattern that mimics OneDrive interference, and sometimes antivirus interference, but that's all for now.)  So I would say that you just need to be very careful with it and keep backups.

If you want to test whether the save is holding together during a play session, use "save as" to create a new save slot, then look at the save file size.  The size can vary a bit, but if it's decreased by more than a trivial amount, say 2-5 MB, that play session is probably toast and you'll need to revert.

  • I know it's a huge save. I've been playing on it since 2020. It's been my main save since then and I've had issues with it in the past corrupting into a completely different save in my game. It is not saved to OneDrive it's on my PC. Thank you for all of your help!

  • simhead82  Those are some very large saves, as Sims 4 saves go.  That itself might be the issue, either directly or not.  I would still like to know the location of your user folder—if it's in OneDrive, the same issue could easily happen again.

It's great that your oldest backup is intact.  If you want to try the others, go ahead (and make spare copies), except that the .ver2 file looks to be too small.  It may well have disintegrated in the same way as you saw with the main save that led you to post here.

Thank you. I did recover it in game and it's back to normal in the .ver4.

  • simhead82  Please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves, sort by modified date (you can click the header to select it) so that the newest files are first, use Windows key-shift-S to take a screenshot, and attach it to a reply here.  I'd like to see how the sizes have changed.

Once you've done that, please recover the oldest backup, the one that has the same internal number as your current save but also has a .ver4 at the end, and see whether your builds are present.  Here's how to recover a backup:

However, even if they ARE there, don't save your progress, at least not now.  It's possible that doing so will delete some data from the save that's currently still present.  Or if you do want to play with this backup, create a spare copy of it first so that you can revert to that should anything go wrong.

Finally, please list the full path to your user folder as the game sees it.  Here's how to find that info:
