Am I confused about Charity Fundraisers? Nobody gives any money

Question

I have a sim with alot of popularity and she keeps getting invited to Charity fundraisers but I don't see any interactions where they could ask people to give money.  Isn't that the reason you have fundraisers?  I would think that would make a good mini-game.  Also, how come the sim seems to be hosting the event when they are really just an invited guest?  The person that invites them seems to vanish at least I never see them around on the lot and my sim has to entertain everyone but at the end of the event I don't see the point of the whole thing cause it isn't like you have things to accomplish.

If you were invited, then you're not the host. There should be another sim hosting on the lot, and there is an interaction to donate when clicking on that sim. If the host keeps leaving the lot, it could be a bug or mod conflict.

Aside from that, it seems to be a pretty normal party. I haven't discovered yet if there are any other interactions.

Oh, that makes more sense clicking on the host but earlier in the game I would get all these requests for my sim to make a donation and she only had like 200 Simoleons but I'd go ahead and say "sure, here's 1000 Simoleons" and then it would accept it but not sure where they were getting the money from cause it never changed her bank account and it never would demand she pay it but it did improve her reputation as a generous sim.  Very strange.  Probably is a mod conflict.

Sometimes the game adds charges to the household bills, so maybe that's what happened with the donation.

I'm hosting a charity benefit party right now though, and can't seem to ask people for money. Is it even an option? Or are you supposed to wait until they randomly walk up to you and give you money. I can't seem to get anybody to raise a toast either, and it's an event goal but not in any of the social menus :/

these events are so stupid and doomed to fail. you think the more people you invite the more likely you are to get donations but the answer is NO. you have to be like the BEST OF FRIENDS with EVERYONE if you want to expect a DIME. And sims 4 is such a DARLING for routing errors that its impossible to queue up the amount of interactions you need to get Gold for the event. so much of the sims 4 in general is giving your sim a command and they either take 30 **bleep** minutes to decide to do it or they just decide not to do it and you have to queue up the command 2-3 more times
