Are hiking and rock climbing activities that help a sim lose weight?

Hey y’all, I have a quick question about working out/losing weight with some of the new physical activities.

When I’m playing my self-sim, who is (like real life me) a vegetarian, she tends to gain a lot of weight because of all the carb-y foods she eats. I don’t really like to work out, and also kinda hate making my sim do it, but I don’t wanna just use the weight loss potion or whatever.

I do really like the hiking and rock climbing activities, and in real life those are physical activities that might keep someone fit. However, I’m not sure if in the sims they would help keep my sim in shape/help her lose weight since they aren’t part of the fitness skill.

(My Sim’s wife did level up her fitness skill on a rock wall though, which I haven’t seen happen before, so I’m not sure if that’s a glitch or if they also slowly level up fitness while rock climbing?)

Does anyone know if those activities, or any other besides the base game workout activities (ie jogging, using workout equipment, or swimming) affect weight/fitness in sims?

  • @CallMeSuperboy Rock climbing will definitely let your Sim lose weight as will any other physical activity. Even dancing all day long can help. Changing your Sims diet would also help a lot. Try having your Sims cooking some healthy meals, growing, and developing their own food would also benefit their weight loss. So, stop opening the fridge for quick meals and have your sims start with a healthy breakfast. You can make group meals for up to eight sims. Eat a portion and store the rest in an upgraded fridge. It will last for a couple of days. It will be cheaper as well.

    Have fun playing. 😉

  • @CallMeSuperboy I think so, a lot of activities can help. The one I use for sims that aren't really in to fitness is the soccer ball you can purchase in gifts through the phone. They like to juggle the ball or kick it with another sim. It goes to fitness and fun and social of they juggle the ball with another sim. It seems more like a game to them than a sport or fitness (unless they have the active trait then its more like fitness)
Eating salad and fruit helps as well.
A quick jog is also fitness and can relieve tension from a stressful job or almost anything else that causes the tense moodlet.
  • Here's the most complete list of food calories I've been able to find online. Eating 0 calorie food won't make your sim lose weight but it'll keep them from gaining weight. Actively exercising and eating 0 calorie food is the only way to lose weight other than just buying the insta-lean reward trait potion.  Still takes a ton of work to lose the weight though,,,, took my sim about two weeks of working out every morning to slim up.
