  • @Sao311tigger The configuration in your pic should work.  I've done it with a residential rental row house with each apartment having a small, fenced back yard.  So, if it is not working for you, I suggest you try with a fence that a sim can't step over.  I also see a short fence on what looks like a 2-tile wide porch.  You need to break that and put in a stair (sorry, just being Capt. Obvious) so there is an entrance into the back yard that the game sees.  The back yard, since it is outside, should not be assigned to a specific apartment to keep the rent lower if you don't have the entrance from the apartment.  Fences will suffice to keep other apartment tenants from entering the back yard unless you add fence gates.

One thing about residential rentals when doing what you are trying to do.  When an apartment has 2 doors, a front and back door, the game tends to get confused which is the front door and will lose the setting on travel especially if you use a foyer and have the apartment front doors open into the foyer.

    Hope this helps.

Yes but i am talking about the foundation level I know how to build a yard but it wont build a room like area that is slectable unless it is attached to the house as shown in the pic then the foundation jumps to the hight of the house  as in this yard is not slectable  onlythe back padio area can be assigned in the first pic now if i want to assign a yard it would have to be like in the second pic where the pattio is the same hight as the foundation

You don't need to assign the back yard to an apartment.  Nor do you want to imo, as it will raise the rent because it'll be seen as rented space like the inside of the apartment.  As long as the entrance to the back yard is through an apartment, then that apartment's tenants will the only ones that can access and use the space.  You can also put a gate in the fence if you want and lock to for just the apartment's household.  So, you can have a back yard that is not on a foundation and is lower than the building foundation.

    Hope this helps.
