Bees and mites...

Is it normal for my bees houses to get mites like everyday in the Winter or am I doing something wrong?

  • If it's happening during the Winter, try moving the bee box into your household inventory, then back onto the lot. See if that resets the generation of mites for your bee box.

  • I don't think you're doing anything wrong. My bees have mites nearly ever other day, and my 'greenhouse' is in my basement. It seems to happen more frequently if I haven't collected honey or bonded with them lately. But the first thing I do is make sure all the boxes have mite treatment if necessary. Good luck keeping them happy, mine are always enraged. My Patchy keeps banging their frames on the boxes. LOL

@TygerNight Gotta love that Patchy! 🙌 Lol! The high maintenance bees-with-attitude? Not so much. 🤨

  • @SheriGRExactly. I just sold off all but one box today because they're always angry. Tired of trying to keep multiple boxes happy. They need a chill pill for real. 😎

Beekeeping and Flower Arranging can work hand-in-hand.
Make a few arrangements using crocus flowers and place them near your bee box make for calmer bees.

Quoted from the guides linked below:
"Produces a calming effect on bee hives. The area of effect is 6 full large squares in range (the bold white lines seen in build mode). If you can count from the location of the flowers, and come up with less than or equal to 6 it will be inside the effective area."

@EuphorialQueen  Thanks for the great info and links! 🙌 All joking aside, I do use the bee hives... and I especially did when getting my plants up to 'perfect'. It works great for fertilizing and increasing the plant quality, plus it can be sold, used to make a honey cake, or to give your sims immunity to temperature effects for 4 hours - and will give a +1 mood enhancement. 🐝
