Best laptop for the sims 4!

I’m currently looking for a laptop for college and would love if I could be able to play the sims 4 with all expansion packs, mods, and cc on it as well. I’ve been eyeing this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-modern-15-a10m-455-intel-i5-8gb-memory-512gb-ssd-black/6437744.p?skuId=6437744&ref=212&loc=1&extStoreId=474&ref=212&loc=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIo9rzzIj07QIVSpyzCh0hEgabEAQYDCABEgIyqPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I want to be able to play on medium/high graphics and stay in that price range. Thank you in advance!

@PinkKitchenAid  It would be helpful to know what your dad is willing to pay for.  I'd be surprised if he weren't comfortable with HP though—it's the second-leading seller of laptops, ahead of Dell (and behind Lenovo, by the way).  But there's not much point in your picking out the perfect laptop for you if he's not going to agree to it.  So ask him what he thinks of the HP, and let me know what his paramaters are.

It sounds like you might like a non-gaming laptop as well, or at least a laptop that doesn't present that way.  The HP I linked can be upgraded ($80) to have an entry-level graphics card, not a whole lot faster than the integrated chip but somewhat beneficial because it would take over the graphics load from the processor.

In case HP isn't a viable option though, this is the Dell equivalent:

It can't be upgraded at the point of sale, although you could add more memory any time you wanted.  By the way, the XPS laptops from Dell are hundreds more for the same hardware and a slightly smaller and lighter build.

In case you want to see a Dell gaming laptop that doesn't look like one, this one is $1,000 and has a graphics card capable of running Sims 4 on ultra settings:

Point is, there are plenty of options out there, once you know what you want and what your dad is willing to buy.

  • @PinkKitchenAid  That's certainly a good laptop for what it does, but its GPU is somewhat slow even by the standards of current integrated graphics chips.  It should handle medium graphics settings (although not by a large margin) if you don't account for custom content.  However, if you like using high poly (high resolution) cc, even full medium settings might be a bit of a stretch.

You could definitely do better for your money, that is if you're interested in other options.  I did actually find one gaming laptop, one capable of ultra graphics settings with some room to spare, for under $600.  As a bonus, it doesn't look too much like a gaming laptop.

If you're more interested in non-gaming laptops, this one from HP would be $530 if you upgraded the hard drive to 512 GB (the cheaper option—the included optane memory is irrelevant with an SSD).  It's under 4 lbs, and its integrated graphics chips is quite fast for what it is, on par with a low-end dedicated card and probably capable of high graphics settings in Sims 4.

There are a lot of other options with smaller hard drives, but I didn't really look at those.  While Sims 4 and all your mods and cc could certainly fit on a 256 GB drive, I don't know what kind of schoolwork you'll be storing on the computer, or other data for that matter.  If you would in fact like to see some good options with smaller hard drives, let me know.

If you're not ready to buy quite yet, this Acer is also a good option to keep in mind, although it's currently sold out.  Its graphics chip is still quite good, a little slower than the Intel one in the HP but still in the same league.

Thank you so much for the reply! Because my father is paying for it the budget is now anything below $1000. However because he’s paying for it he also prefers a more well known brands kill the Dell XPS 13. The hp computer that you linked seemed great but I don’t know if he’d go for it. (He’s ethnic so he only really knows the more popular ones)

I agree that I do not want a gaming laptop so I think I might go with the dell if I am still able to do school work without slowing my computer down. Thank you so much for your help!
