Brewing potions

PaigeGeorgia212​  Have you tried in a new save and/or new user folder?

Do you use mods?  And if you do, have you tried making potions without your mods in the game?

And are all the ingredients in the sim's personal inventory or are you drawing on the fridge?  FYI, only the herbs, fruits and veggies can be in the fridge.  All other things must be in the sim's inventory.

Yeah all the items are in the sims inventory and I don’t use mods so no clue, I’ll try your suggestion about new save thing , thank you!

What options do you get when clicking on the cauldron? What recipes are unlocked in your spell book? Which potion are you trying to make?

I’m just trying make any atm but nothing is coming up. I get the ‘Experiment’ ‘cook mac and cheese’ and ‘brew potion…’ options and then when I click on brew potions I’m not able to do any of them 

PaigeGeorgia212​  What level is your spellcaster?  You have to level up to be able to craft most of them, but you should be able to brew the needs potion in the blue bottle at least.  

Have you tried adding more ingredients to your sim's inventory?  From what I can see in your pic, you seem to have the very minimum.  Sometimes, the game doesn't see the right amount of some things you have for this and other things when the amounts get low.  I see the problem with the caldron, fairy potion crafting station and the nectar making station too.  Adding more to the inventory fixes the immediate problem of making something but not the game not seeing the amount actually there.  I think some of it is that if you have something but don't own it like something a dust bunny has given you or something gotten from debug.

Have you chatted up the sages in the magic realm and asked them to teach you potion recipes? They teach you recipes based on how high their friendship is with your sim, though it will say you need to raise your magic rank some more before they'll teach you but that's not the case, it's all based on friendship level. I couldn't get my spellcaster to make any potions until she learnt them from the three sages, experimenting always failed for me at lower level magic rank and the potions were greyed out for her too even though I had plenty of the required ingredients in her inventory. I just kept going back everyday, raising their friendship and asking them to teach her a new potion until I could make them all successfully at her home lot 🙂

Yep, I’ve learnt every potion, it still isn’t letting me and my rank is ‘master’
