Buying dlc from origin with base game from steam

Hello, i was just wondering can i buy Sims 4 expansion packs or dlc on origin while i own the base game that i bought from steam? Wil it work?

@crinrict hello, i just asked about this matter to ea help on twitter and they said i do not need to buy sims 4 base game again on origin. I do not know which one is correct tho...

@reiiko13 I don't think you can even buy DLC without the base game unless you use EA Play.

I'll double check with the CM what the current status is though

  ~~DLC for The Sims 4 is locked to the platform it was purchased on, so owning some DLC on Steam and some on Origin will only allow you to access what you've purchased on that platform.~~
  
  If you purchased the base game on Steam you can buy DLC for it via Steam or Origin (you'll need to add the Steam version to Origin first via the Add non-Origin Game feature under the Game menu at the top left of Origin).
  
  If you purchased the base game on Origin then you'll need to buy any DLC on Origin as well.
