Sorry for the late reply @MapleSimmer , I think I understand the issue now, and I'm being told this is by design. This was an intentional change when we introduced terrain manip. The origin point (where you start drawing) will determine the height of the block below. See my attached video. When I start drawing the basement block inside of the existing block, it adjusts the terrain. If the origin point for my basement block is outside of the existing block then it doesn't adjust it.

@msales1979 did you see SimGuruNick’s response? This is by design and there are a few ways noted here that you can use so that dirt doesn’t cover the foundation. One is to build the basement before you add a foundation. Another is to start outside the house footprint when building the basement when you’re done, drag the basement in to match the footprint.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer

Because this is working as designed move the thread to general discussions.

  • I had the same issue. I was able to work around it but purchasing a room (I bought a wellness room) and simply extending the edges of the room to trim the entire thing into the basement and just added Al the wall for the wellness room, so it was simply IN the basement.

  • I've been searching this topic for 2 days. I've spent a lot of money on this game, and it would be nice if there was a fix for this. It's March 3, 2022 and there's still no answer? I've deleted, added back, moved the house up and down, re-made rooms and THE TERRAIN STILL GETS MOVED UP WHEN ADDING BASEMENT ROOMS! I'm so mad about this that I'm not giving EA games another cent.

@Marlee_Marlus There is no possible way to maintain all three desired things - flat terrain, foundation and seamless wall transition between floors. Best case scenario, you keep two of three.

On the other hand, you can make basement one tile smaller than the main building (for example - main building is 10x10, so you make 9x9 basement). Thats the ONLY way to maintain all three
