cannot place wallpaper on platform stairs

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.68.154.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? discover university, get famous, seasons, cats and dogs, city living, get together, get to work; realm of magic, strangerville, jungle adventure, vampires, dine out; tiny living; moschino, laundry day, toddler, vintage glamour, romantic garden, movie hangout, spooky, perfect patio
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? create a platform; add stairs to the platform
What happens when the bug occurs? unlike regular stairs, I cannot customize the stairs I add to platforms with wallpaper. if I select wallpaper the sides of the platform stairs are still 'clickable' but no change occurs.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to add and see wallpaper on the sides of platform stairs
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. November patch which added platforms

Ultimately I'm not sure whether this is a bug or intended; if this is intended, then it's a bit unfortunate when creating higher platforms that the stairs are always floating.

    Do you mean like this?

If not please could you post a screenshot of what you are trying to apply wallpaper to.

Wallpaper and foundation coverings cannot be added to platforms. To cover platform sides you must use the Platform Trims tool.

The issue might be specific to basements? That's mostly where I've been building platforms.

I know wallpapers cannot be applied to the sides of platforms; I'm talking about the sides of the stairs. I attached an image to the original post but it still says 'virus scan in progress', so I'll try again here.
