Can't Place Scaled Down Blue Hydrangea Bush Against Foundation

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.61.15.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Discover University, Island Living, Get Famous, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work, Parenthood, Vampires, Dine Out, Tiny Living, My First Pet Stuff, Laundry Day Stuff, Toddler Stuff, Cool Kitchen Stuff Holiday Celebration Pack, Grim's Ghoulish Guitar
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Attempt to place a blue hydrangea bush that has been sized down twice using the [ key flush against the foundation of a house.
What happens when the bug occurs? The bush is unable to be placed flush against the foundation of the house, giving the error "ObjectOn Slope Too Steep".
What do you expect to see? I expect the bush to be placed flush against the house's foundation, just like you can with the pink azalea bush when it's the same size.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Whenever I attempt to size down a blue hydrangea plant and place it along the foundation of a house, it tells me "ObjectOn Slope Too Steep", and it looks as if it's attempting to place it on top of the foundation instead of on the ground, so I have to place it a half tile forward instead. The same thing doesn't occur with the pink azalea bush, even though they're the same size. This is annoying because I'm attempting to recreate a Sims 2 house as close as possible to how it appeared in Sims 2, and the blue hydrangeas are as close as I can get to the "Garden Music "Oleander"" item from Sims 2 using items from only Base Game and Get To Work, which are the only items I'm using.

Yes, it happens with any plants that use 2x2 squares or more when you size them down. Not all plants can be placed beside the house no matter how small you make them. It's always been like this.

I agree with Bluebell, if it's always worked this way then I'd consider this feedback as opposed to a "bug".

  • Yeah, a real pain, but not a bug. Something that sometimes works is moving the wall/foundation back a block, placing the plant down and then returning the wall/foundation back. This only works sometimes for me. Otherwise, the item placed down will just disappear.

@NumeroLetter Many players/builders like to use the testingcheat called "bb.moveobjects on" in a situation like yours. It allows objects to be placed anywhere on a lot without any constraints. I think it's one of the best building tools in the game. You'll often see it mentioned in the Gallery with the tag #MOO (an abbreviation for Move Objects On). Although it works on all objects it's best to only use it on decorative and non-functioning items as it can cause routing errors if used on anything a Sim might interact with (i.e. furniture, appliances, recreation objects, etc.). It would work fine on those blue hydrangeas. To turn the cheat back off when you are finished just use the "bb.moveobjects off" command.

Here is a link to a tutorial on how to use the bb.moveobjects cheat.

Btw- I agree with all previous posts that what you are seeing is not a bug. As far as I can tell, pretty much all objects retain their original footprint size even after their appearance has been scaled down. Someone please correct me on this if I am wrong.

Good luck on your Sims 2 house project, that sounds like an awesome idea :D

@RandomBuzziness Moo is super helpful in placing some of these plants, but even with Moo on I cannot get a number of the plants to place next to a foundation, as @NumeroLetter pointed out. However, if you were to combine Moo with @Player_jp5s5eav 's suggestion of moving the foundation to place and re-adding the foundation, this combo may work, at least in some cases. I normally add plants as a last step of building (since this is the point where I know which plants are most appropriate to the design and colors), so unfortunately this method would frequently not work for me.

@SimGuruNick  I agree with the original post, though, that though this is not a bug, it would certainly be nice if the plants were all adjusted so the did not behave like this next to a foundation, as it's really a pain, and causes me to either get creative (fill with something else, etc.) or not use certain plants next to foundations that should work there. (As I stated, this is the case with a number of the plants, not just the Blue Hydrangea.) 🤞🏻

Hi @SheriGR  🥳 Yeah I see your point there. A slight variation with the "move the foundation" method could be to move the foundation down to ground level instead of moving it back a space. So here I flattened the foundation, placed the re-sized hydrangea next to the wall with MOO, and then raised the foundation back to where I wanted it. I did have to re-do the outside stairs but I think everything else stayed the same. Thank you and @Player_jp5s5eav for those building tips! :D

    P.S. Love ya heaps @finelinetracksix  :D
