Character Values System is still broken after 8/8 update.

The Parenthood game pack is completely broken. I have a Sim whose character needs fluctuate up and down like a seesaw through the red and green zones. This issue was addressed in the most recent patch notes but never happened to me prior to installing the update. When this Sims character values go haywire like this, the game becomes unplayable in many ways. When I enter Build/Buy, there is no way for me to return to Live Mode. When I attempt to enter CAS or Manage Worlds, I am greeted with a black screen while the sim portraits are still visible and the game is still running. I can’t even access the menu at the top righthand corner or trigger the save screen with Alt+F4, I have to enter task manager to close the game. I have tried everything I have been able to find on Google, Reddit, and EA forums. I have repaired both the game and EA, I’ve cleared both of their cache files as well. I use few mods, but they are all updated. I also at one point thought that my game was behaving this way because Avast blocked the update, but it persisted even after I added TS4 as an exception. I even placed my sims onto another save believing perhaps I had a corrupt save, but the problem continued. The only solution I see at this point is to stop playing with Parenthood entirely, which would make my game a lot less fun. I’m hoping I don’t have to resort to this.
