I'm trying to study a historical display at the museum for the event and no matter what I click all I get is view with Emits picture on it. I've tried all my museums. I even took out my mods and repaired the game and still the same thing.

I also have this issue. You can use "View" and let your Sim stand there for a while, it may move you along to the next hint.
This is still an issue. I've tried this at multiple museums, including the base game (Willow Creek) one. I've tried viewing multiple objects at all the museums, for various lengths of time. Nothing works. I'm pissed off because I really want this week's gift. This is a ridiculous bug, please fix it.

As Trowcia mentionned, it wasn't working for me either until I went to Willow Creek Museum, on the first floor, there is the "On The Hunt Statuette" (the dog statuette). I clicked on "View" and it worked. But my sim took about 30 mins (game-time) to completely finish viewing it, then my event task was completed. 😊

+1 That I was also having problems with this one. I don't have the museum in Willow Creek anymore because I replaced it with another lot so had to go into another world for their museum. Nothing was working until I saw one comment on this thread. I had to buy "The Enduring" table and place the "One The Hunt Statuette" and place it on the table for this quest to be fulfilled.
I had this same issue. I kept choosing "view" over and over again for quite some time and it finally worked. I was about to give up.
I was also having this issue. I put a random museum in Newcrest and placed the same 2 objects that Trowicia used. Then I did like Crin said and just "viewed." The proper wording never came up for me, but it did fulfill that step of the quest.
