I don't know. I just know it's from the event.
My game crashed before I saved and it was recreated so I guess you should be fine if you destroy it but there's really no reason to. Just wait to see what's to come.

With the save corruption issue STILL running rampant, I really want an official statement from the EA team about the cellphone in our Sims' inventory. This whole "not-knowing-if-its-safe" & "just wait and ignore it" doesn't feel right or professional.
The thought of a buggy phone from another buggy event in my Sims inventory possibly corrupting our saves makes me want to not participate at all.
EA_Cade as a commmunity manager, would you be willing to soothe some of our fears about the unknown?
