Co-Workers in Active Career Only Use Level 1 Career Outfit

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Svenska
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.56.52.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs, Vampires, Jungle Adventures, StrangerVille, Realm of Magic, Kids Room Stuff, Luxury Party Stuff, Holiday Celebration Stuff.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go to work with a sim in the science career, police career, or doctor's career. Look at the co-workers clothes and their career level.
What happens when the bug occurs? All the co-workers wear the outfit from level 1 in the career. For example mad scientists don't wear the robot-arm outfit and goggles/glasses, they wear the blue lab-coat. Only the played sim wears the correct outfit for their level.
What do you expect to see? That all the co-workers wear outfits that correspond to their actual career level.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

It has always been like this, I just realised that it probably shouldn't be like this.

  • @SqueamishNerd The outfits that the coworkers wear are situation outfits. In the case of scientists, the outfit is defined as the basic lab coat.

Like you said, it has always been this way. So it’s not exactly a bug, but it’s also not that hard to change. So maybe they’ll take this as feedback?

I noticed this too a long time ago, so I modded the coworkers tuning file to ignore situation outfits and instead use the assigned career outfit appropriate for their level. Nice to see my mad scientists walking around in their black augmented outfits.

@simvasion Okay, so it's probably just an oversight or that they thought situation outfits are easier to implement than making sims wearing the outfits for the correct level. I hope they take this as feedback then!
  • Hi with the scientist career all the different level outfits are all lab coats but slightly different colors, when you get to level 7 of the scientist career you have a different outfit but no NPC's are that high up in active careers

    Hope this helped 🙂

@OrignVast I’m pretty sure that I have an NPC who’s a mad scientist or extraterrestrial explorer or some other high level. I don’t remember which level, but I remember thinking that the sim should have the clothes for a level higher than at least 6. I’ll check it tomorrow.

I also came to think about that with rotational playing you could’ve played with one sim to become for example mad scientist, then you play with another sim in the science career and you’ll meet your previously played sim at work. In that sense the previously played sim is an NPC.

Well actually if that was to happen that other character would not be classed as an NPC (Non Player Character) Because you created that charqcter and and NPC is someone the game creates for you

    Hope This Helped 🙂

@OrignVastI do have files like that though, and those previously played high-level scientists still have blue lab coats. So I guess that even the previously played sims wear the situation clothes (in this case the blue lab coat) when not played.
