Sims Can't Cook??

My sims haven't been able to cook for at least a week now(real time). They keep getting the "movement error" bubble for seemingly no reason. I've delete the local cache folder multiple times and only once after that was one of my 2 sims able to cook a meal. After that, no dice. I've made sure nothing is in the way(moved items with bb.moveobjects off), ceiling light included. I'm playing in Innisgreen and I was able to get my sim to cook a cake for her daughter at the starsong lounge after adding counters, a sink, oven, and fridge.

I've tried moving my sims to a new house in a new neighborhood, I've had them visit another lot and then come back, changed the stove, counters, AND fridge - nothing. Both sims in my household are getting the error whether I choose "cook", "have [meal]", "serve [meal]" - doesn't matter. I am this close to throwing my laptop, what is going on??? Does anyone have a fix I haven't already tried?

Try removing that ceiling lamp on your pic.

Maybe the other houses have similar issues ?

  • So when you moved them to the new house, they still couldn’t cook in the new house? If they’re on a lot with just a fridge, stove, and counter, they still can’t cook? Have you tried switching to another sim to see if a different sim can cook on the lots they can’t?

Correct - New house = movement error. New house + new fridge & stove = movement error. I moved their daughter in with Kaori Nishidake earlier and when I tested, Kaori was able to cook in their house no problem(they're in Mt. Komorebi). Brought her to my sims lot and had her serve the same dinner: movement error. I sent one of my sims to Kaori's and was able to make food there no problem.

  • Had my sims wife split from the household and move to Henford-on-Bagley - no issues. Evicted her and moved her into the last neighborhood in Innisgreen - no issues. They have a basement in the house they're in now and it went under the kitchen, but after moving it so it's not under the kitchen, they still get the movement error. I'm going to try moving the household to Henford-on-Bagley tomorrow

It does sound like it might be related more to the builds than the Sims. The ceiling lamp was my first thought as well.

Unless there was a lot that one sim could cook and another couldn't with no build changes? If that's the case, it might actually be the other household members getting in the way. I've had cooking route fail before because another sim in the household was coming to grab something out of the fridge and even though they weren't there yet the fridge was "locked" to everyone else. Or because another sim or pet was just standing in front of the fridge or stove and wouldn't move.

Tested it today - looks like it is in fact the ceiling light👎. Which is slightly annoying since it's an allowable placement with move objects off. I can't remember if the light was in the same/similar spot in the last house, but that prev setup had worked for a good while before getting the movement error. For now I shall try a different light or placement and hopefully that lasts. Thank you both!!
