crystal creations crystal tree

My sim has Gemology level 7. I try to plant the crystal seeds but I do not have the option to even plant the crystal seed. I've looked all over the internet, I can't find anything on fixing it. Am I missing something? Or is this a bug? My sim has gardening level 6. I've tried planting on the ground, planting in the planter box, setting the gemstone on the ground and planter box, and trying to plant from sim inventory. No option to plant the crystal seed.
