Del Sol Valley - It's time for a refresh!

In Island Living expansion, swimmable waters have finally come into the game in the following, High School expansion we will receive functional amusement park. Maybe it is time to finally improve Del Sol Valley and add a new beach neighbourhood? Our second big city world is full of unfunctional schells and has less lots than rural Henford of Bagley.

Let's change this:

  • i actually really agree with you here, some worlds needs their refresh to be honest (except for the basegame, windenburg and san myshuno worlds)
i definitely love your ideas and i hope EA sees this who's responsible for the game

The only question is if can they do this without breaking old save games? I mean ... it would be better if they just add another empty world for free which would have a style from Del Sol Valley. I know they don’t want to touch old worlds and make it swimmable because it could cause all kind of problems.

I am not a generation player, and it doesn’t bother me if I would to need a new save game but some simmers have a save from release date, and I would say they would definitely be unpleased if they needed to start a new save game because this refresh would break their game.

  • James Turner made a huge and detailed survey about TS4 DLC and as you can see, DSV is almost the worst world in the community opinion. Only Batuu and Magnolia Promenade are worse.

Yeah, I really like what parts of Del Sol Valley are there, aesthetically! I feel like the team really nailed Los Angeles. The problem is how few lots there are. I really feel it when playing in the cute little starter suburb; it feels like all my neighbors are fake houses. It's almost like playing on a stage set.

And I know that the pack predated swimming in the ocean--that came from Island Living--but I also feel like it's A CRIME to not have a beach. (As opposed to Windenburg and Brindelton Bay, where we have lovely beaches that I adore but I can't send my Sim swimming!)

I'd have liked more lots and I absolutely agree about the suburban part of Del sol valley looking a little disjointed. I build some expensive homes there but they look so out of place. I use other worlds for my celebrity builds to make up for what DSV lacks. So I have a celebrity chef who has all of Magnolia Park as her private island, I have another in a castle style estate in Windenburg. I used the Cheiftans Villa lot in Sulani (photo attached) to get a beach mansion feel that I couldn't get in DSV. I'd like a kind of Malibu beach strip of mansions. I tried a few years ago with Oasis Springs and placed it where the gym and museum are but it wasn't really what I wanted.

Plus my larger lots in DSV are badly bugged. I took over the Ward Den for my Bollywood superstar and made a rose gold mansion with marble floors, etc, only to have my Sims walk through all of the walls and solid objects and the poodle keeps getting stuck in the marble accent tables!

I can understand that it may be impossible to fix the neighbourhoods we have, but an additional beach neighbourhood should not be a problem because the game loads only one neighbourhood per loadingscreen.

I believe a modder (Arnie) did something that allowed people to swim in Magnolia Promenade in one of his mods, so allowing people to swim in Brindleton Bay and Windenburg should be theoretically possible. I'm honestly not sure how the maps work, aside from having a clickable area that causes you to load a neighborhood.

As for your existing saves, hmm, I think--I'm not a modder--that they load a template for neighborhood areas and save your changes on top, so I'm honestly not sure how changing an existing neighborhood in the template would affect your existing saves. I mean, the little fake houses in that neighborhood aren't really playable space, anyway. I've played a lot in the little starter there, and now have someone living in Venessa Jeong's old house across the street, and... yeah.

Also, speaking of, Venessa Jeong's lot is A LOT bigger than it looks, there's a little fake street running across it, which is interesting! I have some actors living there and built a little outbuilding for their butler LOL.(They don't have Pinnacles money, but can afford the butler.)
