Discover University Dorms, objects in inventory do not have a control to rotate.

I play The Sims 4 on Xbox One S.

During the November gameplay livestream of Discover University, I noticed objects bought from the campus kiosk and placed into a Sims inventory, had the function to rotate during live mode. Console simmers do not have this function available on console hand held controllers.

When in dorms, Build Buy Mode is disabled. Console simmers will have to enter a cheat (to clarify, it doesn't disable trophies or achievements) every time they open a save to be able to enter BB and rotate the objects. Not tedious if you have a USB keyboard but a lot of console players play with hand helds while sitting on their beds or sofas.

The other option is to reposition the camera angle before removing an object from the Sims inventory then placing it. A bit tedious, but not as much as it would be to rearrange objects after it has been place. This means objects will have to be placed back into inventory, reposition the camera then drag the object out of the Sim's inventory to place it where the console simmer wants it at that angle.

I'm hoping this issue can be resolved soon for console simmers considering Discover University is to go live soon, especially since the function on PC and Mac is relatively smooth and simple. Please reconsider addressing this issue by adding a control function for inventory object placement.

  • @jackRA88iTx I haven't played in the dorms, and I'm on Mac, but it's my understanding that this is a DU thing, not a platform thing. If I'm remembering correctly if you want to use build mode at all you need to do it before you move any sims into the dorm (while it's empty), plus many people recommended evicting the sim who lives in one of the dorms before beginning also. My understanding is that once you begin playing in the dorm you cannot access build mode (unless you use a cheat). So I expect that PC/Mac players are sharing your frustration at not being able to adjust the position of a placed item. 🤔

Because of this, I would assume that the best solution is what you mentioned... to move something, first place it in your inventory, then adjust your camera angle and your sim's position in the room so that when the item is placed it will be in the position you want it. This is definitely a fidgety process that could occasionally get quite annoying. 🤨

It would be handy if an ability to adjust the position in live mode were to be added, but since this is a build mode function I wouldn't think it's possible to add. 😞
