Dogs/Cats are invisible

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a new game and try to create a dog or cat. The attributes will display and work but the animal is invisible. No matter what I do it will not show.
What happens when the bug occurs? I cannot place the pet in a household or use it in gameplay. I cannot see the pet and it will not load past the sim creation page. Sometimes it also just replicates the Sim instead of creating a pet.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the dog or cat and be able to customize its appearance. I also want to be able to play the game!
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
I spoke to customer service and they started a file but this is just rather frustrating that I am unable to play because the pets wont load properly.
