In real life we're great multi-taskers, doing several things at once to complete important tasks and other things to fulfill our needs (socialization and fun). While doing homework many of us might turn on the tv in the background or listen to music to help fulfill our (fun) needs, even socializing all at the same time. Why can't we here?
@BlushieXOXO Interesting point, since there are some many other multi tasks now. I suppose they could make the 'fun' or 'social' aspect to the study time increase the time it took to study by 1/3 or 1/4 or something to make it a bit more realistic... Plus in the opposite direction... have it take less time to do homework plus include social if you did a 'study together' or 'study group' option (not sure if it currently counts as social when an adult helps with homework?). Anyway, I would think there could be some things that they could come up with.

@BlushieXOXO & @@SheriGR , it is possible that changes to homework or studying might be made with Discover University, if you are planning on getting that EP. 🙂 I think for just a simple school assignment (like we have in the game now) that is done rather quickly, especially with the parents helping, is very different to a study session or study group, which we will have in Discover University. I would think that during those types of study sessions students would be able to simultaniously listen to music🤞. However, even if this ends up being the case for college students, we will have to wait and see if it will be applied to elementary and high school students as well! 🤔
I also used to study with music on! I couldn't concentrate in study hall because it was too quiet! We weren't allowed to listen to music. But at home I always had music on and only did well on my homework when I could listen to it! 🙌
Is this question for the Sims 4? Because you can definitely do some of those things. I don't think you can watch tv (because you're not studying while you're watching) and there isn't an option to just listen to tv. However, you can talk with other sims while doing homework. You can also listen to music (and drink/snack) while studying (whether it's a stereo or earbuds). You can eat and listen to music while working on assignments (term papers, etc.) on your computer.
If it's not working for you it might be because of proximity - meaning the stereo or person you want to talk to must be close by.
@IslaRoses, thanks for mentioning this. My Sims always talk while studying, but they usually study in the dinning room, the outdoors, or the toddler's bedroom , all of which usually don't have a radio, so I wasn't sure if they could do that or not! I also usually don't have them eat or drink for doing homework as they either do homework waiting for dinner to be made (If there aren't leftovers) or else after they have eaten. (I prefer to have them watch TV while eating to multitask! 🙌 )
I did notice in my Sim's dorm that she could listen to the radio while doing homework and studying! 🥳
