@Psychotps, and @suzushka , no the murphy beds take up the same size as a regular bed, but the idea of them is that during the day you aren't so cramped, and in the case of the one with the couch attached, it does actually save space since you have the couch in the same spot as the murphy bed! 🙌 This way I can have a couch and a bed in my Sims's living room! Can't do that with a regular double bed! 😞
Yes the murphy beds are death traps if your Sims doesn't upgrade them . The first upgrade reduces breakage (and I noticed it reduced non-fatal accidents as well). 🙂 You can do the 1st upgrade at level 3 handiness. And the next upgrade that makes the bed unbreakable is at level 8 handiness and I have not only not have my bed break since then, I have not had a single accident (both fatal and non-fatal) since upgrading my bed.🙌 It has been 2 Sim weeks and no accidents yet. I know that the bed still has a chance of killing your Sim, but I think after the upgrade it is greatly reduced, kind of like the chance of getting hit by a meteor in TS3 was pretty rare!). So, just in case, I've been saving my game more often so if a murphy bed death does eventually occur with a fully upgraded bed, I can always quit without saving and start up again from my last save. 😉
I do really want bunk beds in the game as well ❤️ 🤞, but I think those would have been a better fit with the Parenting GP or the Kids Room SP! Even City Living could have benefitted from them. And while they make sense in Tiny Living, I think the Murphy bed makes more sense. Bunk beds aren't' the best fit for a romantically involved couple and are better for just roommates or for kids and teens. 😉 And since tiny homes are sure to have some parents or at least a romantic couple , then the murphy bed is a better fit. I see far more murphy beds and futons in real-life tiny homes on TV than I do bunk beds. 🙂
But where they really missed the mark was the omission of ladders in this pack! 😢 I've seen soooo many ladders in real-life tiny homes, or at least "sladders" which are halfway between stairs and ladders. Also paddle stairs or stairs with cabinetry under them. This would have saved so much space! 😞
@PugLove888Well, that's great information! I didn't want to test it out on sims I actually care about, so I haven't tried it yet. Even so, I think I'll hold off trying it with my long-term favorite sims thankyouverymuch...
Maybe I'll start a new game with some (censored) sim I really hate and try it with them for a while. If they die, no big whoop.
(Oh, come on... that's not a bad word... rhymes with perk)

@Psychotps, that sounds like a good compromise! 😃 I tried it on new Sims that I wasn't attached to yet. Got a lot of non-fatal accidents with the bed before I did my first upgrade. After the first upgrade I only got one non-fatal accident 🙂, Haven't had any after the 2nd upgrade (the unbreakable one). 🙌
But I like your idea for using a Sim you can't stand as the guinea pig. 😉 - SheriGR6 years agoHeroSpoiler
My first death. And I killed one of @PugLove888 's sims. I was so, so traumatized. Stupid evil bed. Death by Murphy Bed... not my fave thing. <😢 Where's my super sobbing emoji when I need it?> I'm on a mission. I'm building a safe starter. 😉 Benefits of a 32 tile home without the risk. Should be ready this week. 🙌 Gosh, I'm such a micromanager!- PugLove8886 years agoHero (Retired)
@SheriGR, my poor Sim! 😢😇 I highly recommending upgrading and then testing with Sim you don't care about😉. And exiting without saving! 😇

@PugLove888 Oh, I definitely exited without saving, and will always upgrade with a very handy sim before using one in the future!! 🙌
