Exception in Sim Timeline: Exception resuming Element

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? ?
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? None
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just open the game. It’s unplayable.
What happens when the bug occurs? The game doesn’t work at all. Sim glitches with arms going in and out constantly.
What do you expect to see? To be able to play the game.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I downloaded a lot of mods but used the exceptions mod and the sims 4 mod manager to make sure none of my mods are outdated or duplicates.

When I go into the game my sim is completely unplayable. He just stands with his arms glitching in and out and doesn’t listen to anything. The better exceptions mod told me to delete a lot of old mods and dublettes, so I did and now it’s clean but it still has that same problem.

on exception summary it says:

Recommended Action- No mods were listed in the exception but you do have mods installed. Close your game, try removing handfuls of mods from your mods folder and retry what you did when you received the exception. If the exception does not occur then the problem is likely with that mod.

Possible Cause: sim

Reason: Exception in Sim Timeline: Exception resuming Element (TypeError: on_outfit_change() takes 4 positional arguments but 5 were given)

Does anyone know what they mean or what to do? To be clear, I was playing the game without a problem, downloaded the mods, and then it was unplayable even after having cleaned.

Have you already tested the game with the complete mods folder moved to the desktop and deleted localthumbcache.package in your user folder?

  • I actually just solved it and did similar to what you said so thank you! I first removed the whole mods folder which got the game working again and then chose maybe 6-7 script mods to put back in which brought the exact problem back. So I removed two mods that looked sketchy, tried again and it worked this time, put all the remaining mods back in and it still worked so problem solved! 🙂
