Fix custom pronouns

Can we get an update that doesn't make the sexual orientation automatically bisexual or exploring? Everyone is saying that we can just choose not to use pronouns, but this update literally messed up all of my storylines because now characters are all bisexual or exploring their sexuality and I have to go back in and edit every single Sim I have ever made. I get the pronoun update for those that want it, but I don't get why it defaults to everyone being bisexual/exploring and why it went back and added that selection for ALL pre-existing Sims.

The Custom pronouns didn't change anything on existing sims and unless you specifically assign a custom pronoun to a sim you create they will not have any. It seems to me that you confuse it with the new Gender preference setting which also doesn't change anything about existing sims and unless you specifically set it sims you create will behave in exactly the same way they have always done. I hope this clarified it for you.

  • Pronouns and sexuality are not the same thing. Plus, if you don't want things to change, don't change anything. Sims are behaving in the same way they always have, they were always exploring/bisexual.

  • I thought it came out in the same update. Yeah, it is the gender preference settings that I am talking about. And it did change everything. My sims were not exploring, but now I have sims that were in heterosexual relationships flirting with sims of the same sex. I went to check and ALL of my sims are now exploring and interested in both sexes. So the update (gender preferences) did change that. Is there a way to make the default not include both genders?

They aren't actually. The gender preferences switch changed how they behave. They are now interested in both sexes. It didn't used to default to that. And I am aware that pronouns and sexuality are not the same thing. I was referring to the gender preference portion that came with the pronoun update.

Yes it has always been so that they were undetermined until you specifically had them do romantic interactions with one sex. Nothing has changed there. Gender preferences changed it so you can choose what gender they are attracted to (or none) when you create your Sim in CAS. If you later change your mind you can load them in CAS using a mirror or dresser and change it.

  • They aren't undetermined though. If they were just blank or undetermined, it wouldn't be an issue. They are all bisexual and you have to go in and change it.

Yes it was that way before, every sim would be able to flirt/date/marry another sim of either gender. It's just that now you can see the option and change it if you want.  The pre-generated sims that were gay (The ones in the pets expansion for example) could still flirt with women.

Nobody else has needed to go in and change existing Sims so I'm at a loss why it should be necessary for you. Do you use any Mods or CC?

I've played the Sims for over 20 years, since Sims 1 first arrived. They have always been pansexual, as in attracted to either gender. The player chose which gender to pair them up with.

I'm not sure how you haven't noticed it in Sims 4. Examples of where you might spot proof of this is if you have City Living, where all Sims flirt with everyone at the Romance Festival for example. Or if you have Eco Living, with the Free Love NAP enabled as another example. Or say if you have a Sim who can use Enchanting Introduction they can make a Sim of any gender fall for them instantly, regardless of relationship status. Or if you just decided your Sims wanted to date someone of the same gender, you could do so without obstacles.

Millions of other players will tell you the same thing.

The new update lets you choose their sexualities for the first time.

Sims have always been an open minded bunch but now if you want to make them all straight, you can 🌈♥️.
