Fix the fear whim!

I want to throw a tantrum like my angry Sim every time a fear pops back up! It's infuriating. I have one Sim in a household who is married to Nalani after he optionally (yes he did this on hiw own!) got her pregnant (with twins too) - I was unimpressed with their actions but rolled with the punch. He is constantly afraid of the dark and no fear-be-gone potion will work to solve it, as he has no fear - despite running around and being "scared" all the time. I changed him into a mermaid and still no solve. I cannot even discuss fears as there is never an option, because there is no supposed fear....

A separate household I have also posted my issue about gets fears of unfulfilled dreams - he has the job I want him in dammit! I always have to use fear-be-gone as there is never any option to discuss fears for cathartic healing. I have tried with his - then not wife -, best friend and other rando's and still no cathartic option. 

I know I can turn off whims and fears but I want my whims left on - I like the mini challenges they provide. I am also not bleating to remove the fears all together as I like that they are a game changer. However, by simply providing more cathartic or discussion options would be preferred over continually relying on a potion solve. 

Please if there is a more hidden discussion option as with the get to know and ask about xxx options then please tell me so I can save my tantrum for something else.

    In order for the ability to discuss a fear to appear you must first fulfil the associated want.

    The fear of dark does not seem to be associated with wants and fears so you need to find out what causes it. Perhaps a mod.

    I have tried to complete those fear/whims that are in the spikey looking whim bubble but it does not seem to work or provide me with a cathartic discuss option. So I always use a fear-be-gone potion. Perhaps I am missing something? Are there multiple whims connecting the fears? I am a console player, if this makes any difference.

    As for the permanent fear of the dark sim (Iseul is his name a completely separate sim now) he's afraid as he saw Nalani after dark so that made him petrified of the dark being that she is an occult sim. I successfully transitioned him into an occult sim - merman after she became pregnant with his children. However, this has not solved my issue he still runs about and screams in his kids faces scaring them. I am a little loathed to use any mods as I have had previous issues with them. I avoid any CC as it seems to glitch my sims game(s) out completely. Sadly as there are some nice looking mod materials out there.

    I am vehemently against how the Sims team decided to experiment with a new implementation of Fears in the Sims 4. The team needs to stop (poorly) reinventing the wheel...Fears in the Sims 2 are the gold standard.

    It's unacceptable that there is radio silence from the Sims Team regarding this Wants & Fears update. They just dropped it on us, making a bad whims system somehow worse.

    Is there a plan to fix the bugs? Is there a plan to tweak the variables and adjust frequency % and types of want/fear rolls? What's going on?

    It is sometime since I had a fear but as I remember there was only one want that I needed to fulfil.

    Since you are on console you can not have any Mods/CC. It may be a bug. I recommend you post about that in the console forum so someone more familiar with console can answer that part.

    All other fears don’t get stuck but they are to aggressiv in a vanilla game. Ah, and NPC(inkl. cats + dogs) can get fears too which makes no SENSE at all.  Sadly, as console player you need to wait that the team will fix (or improve) the whole system. 

    All other player I would recommend using bienchens whim overhaul. She has too a module which fix the bug above and make fears less appear (if you want to play with fears and don’t remove it)

    @daikoyu You can’t remove it. The game settings are also bugged. So thanks for the mod recommendation 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

    Yeah, I know I wrote the bug report for it. I meant for people which don’t want to use mods which remove fears complete. For myself I use *Sims Get No Fears* (ModTheSims) from TearsofTyr. I use this mod only because my sims got fears as this toggle stop working after a short CAS visit.

    I was never interested in whims. I tried the new system and NO; I don’t need that this game tells my what my sims want or from what my sims has fears. Because this end only with stupidity as my immortal vampire get fear of the dark/dead or my top criminal get fear of dead end job.

    Wants are too always the same; Listen to music station X and Y if your sim likes more as one music station and the best want… break up with your fate mate! I hope they will improve the whole system, at least for console/vanilla player.

    @daikoyu The new patch did not update Wants &
    Fears at all or allow a proper disabling of the system
